Front Hoop

I am looking to add a bumper/hoop/winch to the jeep.

After looking through hoops, I like the Center Stinger Hoop and the PreRunner Guard, but not quite sure what would be the better choice for the main style of jeeping I do.

I read the stinger adds strength for off-camber pulls, which I assume is for rock climbing and such, where as the prerunner guard protects the fenders/body from small trees, shrubs and the likes .. is that accurate?

Does the stinger increase wear on the front tires?

Any other suggestions for hoops. I want to keep the factory fog lamp positions.

The not-so-beaten paths around here are beaches, wood lot trails, dirt roads and fields, top soil pits, SNOW, and rivers/creeks.

adding a stinger won't increase any wear on tires.

the main reason a stinger should be added to a jeep is a roll over deterrent. the idea is the stinger will hit the ground first, and act as if the wheel base of the jeep were actually longer, thus not allowing the COG to get high enough to allow the rear tires off the ground.

they can be used for pulling, but I find them annoying for this. the strap tends to go to the tip. that tip is higher than my rear tow point, so I basically pull down on the front, making recovery more difficult. they also have a tendency to create weird angles when pulling.

in addition to looks, I'd say the majority of folks in my area run them as anti-deer devices. if a deer is clipped, it acts like a battering ram, totally knocking the deer away from the body of the jeep. very cool. however, a "perfect hit" of a deer and stinger will force it under the jeep, increasing the odds of you flipping the jeep. despite that though, stingers are very popular here locally for this reason, and is my main motivation for possibly getting one in the future.

any other hoops are used as radiator protection, something to stick lights on, or looks. I have a regular hoop for added protection of tree collisions. keep in mind though, a good, quality stinger SHOULD support the weight of the jeep, and bolt/weld into the frame. they also need to have a strong base, not just a tube running through the bumper.

Doesn't sound like you need a stinger.
Prerunner guards are more practical but quite heavy as well; just make sure you have enough spring up front. Just adding additional spacers won't do anything to help you in dynamic situations.
And don't use either RR guards for pulling anything; that's what real recovery points are for. You'd snap or bend the hoop.
