Fuel cover door question

I just bought a fuel cover door off ebay, it is suppose to be OEM new, all I received was the door, is there anther kit I need to buy that contains, the Mounting Ring, Fasteners and Unique Mounting Cup or should that be part of the kit?

IIRC mine included a new plastic liner to replace the existing one. Once that was changed out the cover itself snapped into place. No fasteners required.

I can't see which one it is. You should be able to remove the existing screws and put on the locking door and put the screws back in. Mine is like the one I pictured. Mine did come with screws and wrench. I didn't need them. I used the stock existing screws. 5 minute install.

Just remove your existing screws to the outer lip, attach the door, put the screws back in.

No screws on the black plastic outer ring on your jeep? It's the outer fuel cup. It should have four or six crews. Is the issue, they advetised it as new, but came in a dell box? If you got a good deal on it, who cares.

You are correct, no screws. I'll look when I get home for my install instructions. I do remember it saying something about drilling holes. I thought they all had screws on the cup. You are more than welcome to my new screws and wrench. I really don't need them. I could send them to you if you want them.

I'm thinking that the tan colored ring needs to be removed first somehow and then this black cover would then fit after being screwed in..

My cover "pictured" earlier in the post, fits right over the cup and sits tight. The only difference is his "cup" doesn't have pre-drilled holes or screws.

I installed this cover and you're definitely missing parts. Like the above poster said, you're missing the interior cup. Your old one comes out so you can install the new one so you don't have to drill any holes. Did you get all of the screws? Each one of the holes on the metal cover should have a screw in it, but only 2 or 3 are functional. The others are for looks.

Exactly what JKGirl said. I did this install a couple months ago. You are missing the filler neck which should be included in the kit. That replaces your existing filler neck.

Look at this link. It has detailed instructions with pics. You'll see what parts you're missing.

I don't think you are missing anything as far as the stock cup. Some of the wranglers didn't have screws on the cup. Can I ask how much the fuel door cost you? I think I paid $36 on ebay. Quadratec was like $67, same door.

I'm thinking that if you remove that outer ring, the plastic cut that you have will work. To remove the ring, first remove the taillight. From there, you can reach in and release the little clips that hold the outer ring in place. What you have left SHOULD accept the screws from your door. You might have to buy the 4 screws, if yours didn't come with them. Just remember to get stainless.

You need the cup. ebay has a new policy that all things can be returned, doesn't matter if the seller states NO RETURNS. send it back you can buy them for about $65.00 to $75.00

Agreed. Send it back and give the seller negative feedback on ebay so he/she is less likely to dupe someone again.
