Get your full size owners manual

Tried searching the forum for this and didn't see it anywhere. Wanted to let people know you can call Chrysler and request your full size owners manual. Contains much much more information then the "user guide".

If you call 1-877-426-5337 and listen through the options and stay on the line. All you need is the last 8 of your VIN #.

These are what I received for the Cherokee, the three next to the user guide. Not my actual picture but the manuals are the same.

Yep - no cost at all. I also have the electronic version but prefer the hardcopy as well.

Lol. I think there are far more relevant variables involved in raising the potential price of new vehicles than a hardcopy owners manual requested by a small percentage of jeep vehicle owners on a forum.

I doubt the manuals are printed to order (since mine should be arriving in a few days). I am guessing they are easily offset by the ridiculous prices people seem to be more than willing to pay for Mopar branded parts (like a jeep branded sunshade for 60.00-70.00!).

Besides, no matter the convenience and availability of e-versions of books / manuals (and I do have my share of them) I will always prefer having my hands on an actual book. Heck, as far as I'm concerned if they want to add a few dollars to the 32k + I spent on the vehicle to include the complete owners manual....go ahead.

One other advantage - I always have a hardcopy of my motorcycle manuals available while working on them so when I need to reference something I can find it without getting grimy/greasy hands on my phone or laptop. (or on the doorknob if I have to come in, turn on the computer and find the page I need on that convenient electronic version). :)

Agree...

Waste. PDF off the internet - much easier to search that than flip through a book. Think of all the trees saved :)
I'm in the Jeep alot and often eat lunch in the truck. And while I'm into all the techy stuff and I've searched many electronic copies of pdf's, I guess I'm old school when it comes to reading books, manuals etc. Nothing better then sitting in the Jeep for lunch, on a nice warm day, and paging through the manual ... :)

Canadians too? Will have to try it out. I have the PDF but I agree with the poster above it is easier to grab the book while wrenching. I was going to print the PDF but if they will send me a book for free then why the hell not.
Yes Canadians too. It took about 10 days to arrive, and I am glad it arrived. Lots of good info in it that I wasnt aware of. You need your vin and the toll free number. If you are the original owner you can have the book for free.

Alright I get it some of you like that paper. Given the jeep is a box made of sheet metal and pretty basic (exaggeration of course); be it the "little manual" or the large what is it in that manual that on might actually need that is not common sense? like "ahhh shit, how do I get these doors to unlock?" At the end of the day its an "owners manual" and yes if it were a service manual I see merit in that.

There was a thread a while back where people were talking about features. It was awesome that several people would comment they never new the feature was there. The visors will extend out towards the center. A lot of people didn't know that. It pays to read a manual after dumping so much cash!

Hey All,

I just got a used 2013 and it had no owners manual. I went to the local dealer and learned that the no-cost hard copy is only available to the original owner. Mine would cost FIFTY DOLLARS!!! Oh, plus tax...

A bit of reflection made me realize that there has been about five pages of useful information in every 500 page owners manual I've ever had. So instead of filling my glovebox and emptying my wallet, I downloaded the PDF version then spent an evening reading, cutting, and pasting the important information to a new document. I now have one entire page folded in my glovebox instead of a thick catalog.

Seriously: I do all my own work and really only need wheel lug torque, radio operation highlights, and a few other little tidbits at hand. Half of the owners manual is legal warnings!

Tom.

No charge if the original owner.

Mine came within 5 days of talking to the nice Jeep girl on the phone.

Man that thing is thick. Time to get the reading glasses out.

Sweet. That's really fast. Hope mine shows up soon!

I'm genuinely baffled by people speaking out against getting the hard copy. It's not like you have to choose one or the other! Yeah, I usually use the pdf, but I've actually busted out the book because it was handy, or the phone battery was low and I didn't want to hop on the computer or whatever.

Just received my full size owners manual today, along with the build sheet.

I'm amazed at the difference between the full size version and what they gave me with the vehicle. Another black mark against Chrysler, trying to save a few bucks. You buy the vehicle, you should get the full manual.
