I had some fun in my jeep this weekend. A friend of mine and I went down by this bridge, where it had a trail going down to the water off the side of the road. It was a muddy trail. Splashed through it no poblem. He went around one of the mud pits though. He has a Silverado, 198? Four wheel drive, no lockers. The mud was fun. I felt the jeep catch in a rut going through and pulled slightly to the side. I just went with it, and kept the momentum up. I was in 4 Hi since I needed to keep my speed up to make it through.
Found a rock garden too. He went firstover them, so I droped down into 4 Lo and crawled over them no problem. That was fun. I forgot to turn my lockers on till almost the end. Haha Still didn't have any trouble.
Noticed something though. While crawling over the rocks, in 4Lo 1st gear, at Idle, the Jeep seemed to lunge some. Like it would go forward, stop rock back and go foraward again, like it was rocking back and forth on the slack in the drivetrain.
Is this normal for a manual rubicon when crawling over rocks? Or wasI doing something wrong. I was takeing the tall rocks like I have read that i was suposed to. That way the tall ones dont smash my axles ect. Only thing I didnt do was air down, because I had no way of airing back up.
