Future Hardtop Wagon?

Folks, I am looking to buy a tough offroad vehicle that is built around the 4-door wagon style like a LR Defender 110 or Toyota landcruiser 70 series with a permanent hard top and not a removable one like the Freedom Top is. Any chance you have heard rumors pointing to jeep possibly having this option on the Wrangler unlimited in the future? Thank you. (Note- I am NOT interested in the other current jeep options- Compass, Patriot...) And while I am at it, whats the plan to improve upon the current engine and offer more torque?

I doubt the Wrangler will ever see a non removable top, that feature is one of several features that makes the Wrangler unique to other 4x4 SUV type vehicles. There was some talk about a diesel in a JK for 2010, it's already available in the European editions.

Regards,
Richard

Just get the Freedom hard top and never take it off....You can have it repainted to body match your jeep to give it a unique custom look there are headliner kits available for the hard top also.....and then add a RIPP supercharger for plenty of extra HP and a big increase in fuel economy....

They new JK doesn't even feel like you are riding in a jeep it's so quiet with the hard top.

PJJ,

I have a stock 2008 Rubicon that outwheels all the stock vehicles you have mentioned. I don't take my roof off except for the two front panels on warm days. It does not leak a drop. It has a lifetime powertrain warranty. I improve US forest service roads for a living and use it to drive to and from home and the equipment. Also to scout the impassable roads for evaluation. I have tried many other vehicles this is the best one.

If you want a non-removable top jeep go with the commander or the liberty. they make lifts and accessories for both of them. my husband has a commander with a 2" lift and other off road accessories

Folks,
Thank you for the good input and thoughtful comments. I wll be interested to see how the freedom top stands the test of time and many seasons of harsh weather.
As for the engine, the supercharger is a good idea. How does it effect the warranty, MPG, and low RPM pull and throttle control?
