I'm interested as well. I have added as many deterrents as possible. Wheel locks. Buying a Tuffy hood lock. McGard hinge locks useless I know, but cheap so why not. I also have the Tuffy console insert which is pretty secure.
Mopar has an OEM locking cap, you can install it behind the Mopar metal fuel door. There are aftermarket fuel door covers with a lock, but they use a separate key...quality varies amongst the aftermarket offerings.
I use it myself, works great and uses my ignition key, similar to how my Bolt locks do. Keying the cap is a small hassle though since it doesn't key itself like the Bolt locks do, I needed need to find a good locksmith to repin it alike to my key. It's been flawless since install though.
Thanks guys. @bdkowert ... I'm liking what I'm hearing. No issues whatsoever since install such as trying to shimmy the key in, or it seized up? I have plans to go to the dealer today to get one of my vehicles serviced. I might just pick it up from them. As far as the oem goes, do you just cut the cord to remove?
My jeep lives outside and I've had no problems with the lock so far. One day I may treat it to some wd40 or powdered graphite if I'm feeling generous but it doesn't need it yet.
The leash for the caps just pop out of the plastic housing. The new cap should have its own leash that you just pop in as well.
I've had the Mopar locking cap and metal cover since picking up the JKUR in Aug, '13. No problems. I had to become comfortable with turning the ignition key and holding it to the right to unlock the cap while rotating the cap left to remove it.
