Gas fill ups?

Ok, everytime I fill up my tank the gas comes out and spills down my bumber. Is there a way to know when your tank is near full? I thought the pumps should shut off so this don't happen, but it happens on my jeep and always after I clean it....ticks me off!! Any help on this little set back of mine would be great.

Thanks

I've never had this problem, but my recollection is there's been a TSB or a recall on it. I believe you can get it fixed for free. Contact your dealer.

It's a common issue; there's a factory recall for it...

Some threads that might help you:

See post #5 in this thread: overflowing gas??
Read all of this one: Gas puking

Haven't had that issue on my 2012 but I do know that when its shuts off you are pretty much done or you WILL overflow it. Other vehicles I have owned you can add quite a bit more after it shuts off. Not my Jeep. I round off the amount and call it good.

Known problem

Happened all the time on my Durango. After a year of fighting they changed my gas tank and filler neck. A lot of Chrysler vehicles have the same problem. Take it in and they will follow the protocol that has been sent out.

My 09 jku has this issue. If the dealer fights back on fixing it just pay attention to the amount you put in.

Had the same problem on mine. Took the dealer 2 tries to fix it. Last attempt they FINALY decided to replace the gas tank and now no more overflow.

Chrysler is aware of the problem bt havent made it a recal. Instead they extended the warrenty on the gas tank. Didnt cost me a dime, only time.
