gears

in a few days i will be adding 35in trailgrapplers and a 2.5in lift to my jeep and i was wondering if it would be better for me to upgrade from the stock gears to 4.10 or just leave it the way it is. any opinions would be helpful

I would go lower than that if you're going to spend the money. Auto or manual?

5.13 would be ideal. Im running 4.88s but I have a manual. Its expensive to have done, so you don't want to put 4.10s in and wish you would have went lower later on.

I would say go with the chip first since its cheaper, and see how it feels to you.

If you have the stock 3.21 and not the 3.73 its probably going to be a dog with the chip as well.

I'm about to get a gear change as well. Just getting all the parts lined up. I have a 6 spd and will be rolling with 4.88s. I've got 3.21s now and I can tell u that just around town and on flat highways they are fine for power. After all it's a Jeep not a sports car. However that being said u will not like the stock gears off road!

You can't gracefully crawl over stuff and u have 0 torque when climbing steep gnarly stuff. You just can't get the engine rpm up to where it's happy in the hills. I'm sure the clutch takes a beating in the process as well!
