Same on the monitor here, wow that does look pretty bad compared to the other pics I've seen of it.

That is because that is a simulated photo, and not a REAL photo of the color.

Yeah that's what I figured, BFG is the same. Nowhere near the same in person.

YAY , mines already going up in value!

Been waiting for gecko since the fall and if it comes out like the rubicon pictured above.........i'm thinking no. In the early fall there was some chatter about a cactus green to come out in jan 2012, but that color went away and shifted to the gecko. The rubi picture to me looks more cactus as does the bottom picture of post #35 from the "any news on gecko thread". I figure that I have to see it in person then order. Worst thing to happen is that I will bank a little more and if the color looks like baby food green...........2013 colors should not be that far out. If the color is as bright and fun as I think it will be then I will get it in May after seeing it in March. Looking for a sahara with the black top. A little hesitant over the full gecko with the color top. Been a long wait.

I expected something brighter, myself. Will have to wait to see it in person, or at least a real picture.
Does anybody know if this front bumper is only available in Europe? Have seen it before in other pictures but never on the roads.

There is a member from Japan and that is what his bumper looks like, I think they are just from the international market.

As far as the colors go, I wouldn't get some of them but I'm glad they make them. Back in the 60's the color pallet for cars was great but somehow we ended up in a sea of white/gray/black cars.
I think they are trying to appeal to a younger market making bolder color choices.

I found the official color chip for Jeep.com's BMO configurator.

Also, following their file naming structure the image of the Jeep should be available here when it goes live.

Gecko & other colors

This site below is fun to play with and already shows some 2013 colors for Challenger and Charger like Sublime Green (close to Gecko but is a different paint code) and Plum Crazy, which I like a lot.

Color Codes - Jeep Paint Cross-Reference - page 7 of 7

My dealer will only order a Gecko colored Sport (in early February, or whenever available to order) for stock in order to see what it looks like before they'll order a more expensive Rubicon as potential stock in the Gecko color. They won't order a Rubicon to my specs and then let me decide if I like the color because they don't want a Rubicon in a questionable color sitting on their lot if I don't take it. So I may not get to see the Gecko color on the actual vehicle until the middle or end of March. Ouch.

Gecko "available for order" time has been changed from early February to mid-February. Jeep customer service person thought the Gecko color looked similar to the green on the Kawasaki bikes. In 2012 its called Candy Lime green on the Kawasaki. If that's the case, Gecko may look pretty good indeed.

I hope that's what "pearl" in "gecko pearl" means. A deep shine or metallic finish. I think it will look good, too.

Well, another week passed in a wait for this truck. My dealer decided to back out of the deal since it takes too long to wait and he thinks price is gonna rise by the time they will place the order. I am really amused by all this, in the future I will probably grey-import stick shift Patrol or Padjero. Should be much easier than to buy Jeep of my choice! Now it's more like Gecko or no Gecko!

Last week Jeep customer service said their current information is that Gecko will be available for order mid-February. Mid-February orders mean the Gecko Jeeps should arrive about 6-8 weeks later so we can't see one until late March at best.

Feb allocation for MARCH BUILD shows 02/07. I'm guessing Gecko will be open to order the same day. It will be longer than 6 weeks on an order.

I would guess that one ordered in Feb will sit in D1 status until March. If it gets produced early March you will probably see it by mid April. Rumor is there will be a Gecko at the Chicago Auto Show in Feb.

I used the available color chip and did a color mock up based on Jeep's stock Build My Own photograph. I used a neutral color area of the paint around the windshield to do the matching. I put my Electric Lime Green LJ below to show the color difference. After that is Jeep UK's official mock up of Gecko Pearl which looks fairly hideous.(The rest of the mock ups on their site look off color as well.)

Considering Jeep's current trend of bright colors I am confident my mock up is very close.

I hope it looks more like your rendering than the Jeep UK site. Their color does seem off to me. I think it will be bright.

Digging your mock up Alexia ! Thank you for posting that. Our current jeep is a satin jade pearl 97 TJ. Perfect color for summer beach cruising. Could not find any in electric lime green when I was originally shopping. Sure am thinking that gecko is going to pan out just fine. I think I am going to follow up with Mr. Pat because if there is a Gecko at the auto show............roadtrip

That render looks really good actually. If it looks like that, I might take it. That is, if Detonator Yellow does not miraculously shows up again!

However, I saw today a green (kinda Gecko'ish) Suzuki Vitara from the 90's. Since the paint was no metallic it had faded quite a lot and the whole car just looked oooooold! Very, very, very old. And misplaced as well. Some colours and cars get old in style (A Ford Mustang from the 60's for example) and other cars just get really dull like minivans from the 80's. This gecko'ish Suzuki was definitely like the latter.
What I'm trying to say is: how would this gecko Jeep look like in, say, 15 years? I see flame red TJ's and they still look awesome. Will a gecko be the same?

Hmm, not sure if I'm explaining myself good here. It's a feeling hard to describe. I'll see if I see it driving one of these days and I'll try to make a picture.

Buy now and feel regrets later (mucho later...)! Who cares how my car will look in 15 years!
I truly loved the look of rendered Gecko. I hope it will be the same live. I don't mind UK website rendition with Resque Greenish theme.

Thanks Pat. Hope a Gecko slithers its way into the Chicago Auto Show. Anyone and everyone who goes to the Chicago Auto Show, please take numerous pictures of a Gecko from all angles and post them and give your impressions. Hoping it looks very near like the Kawasaki motorcycle green.

Also, the Arctic Edition is no longer available to order. But good news for you Winter Chill people, heard the Winter Chill should be available to order in early March. Saw Winter Chill at the L.A Auto Show and there is just enough blue coming through to not to appear more silver than blue, if that makes sense.

If only this possible Volcano Edition would come in Stinger Yellow. Pat, have you heard of this edition?

Thanks Alexia

Thank you, Alexia, for your efforts to depict the correct color. You have rekindled my hopes that were dampened after seeing the UK's version.

It's kind of hard to tell but Gecko in this picture looks as if it's a metallic color. Don't know if anyone remembers but back in the 60's Plymouth and Dodge muscle cars were available in: Sublime (Gecko), Plum Crazy (Beautiflul metallic purple) and Hemi Orange (Crush). I wouldn't mind seeing a Gecko or a Plum Crazy but I doubt that the Plum will happen.
