GEOFF- Under seat Lockbox

GEOFF,

I received and installed my Lockbox. There are some notes that you might want to pass along.

1. There is a bracket mounted under the seat on door side (2011). The brackets only purpose seems to hold up the 12v DC (Educated Guess) wiring that goes into the center console. I have no clue why they ran it the way they did.

2. Remove bracket - this will allow the box to slide under the seat as per the directions.

3. Zip tie the wiring using the same holes where the bracket was mounted.

Love the box. Very solid and worth the money.

I just saw this post, but I'll pass along to engineers tomrrow. Thanks for the feedback.

Some of the TJ guys are having trouble installing these, but the JK owners all seem real happy. I'm only talking to JK owners from now on. :-)

UPDATE: I hadn't read your post super carefully (I'm like that!). But our product guy pointed out the 2011 model year in your comment. We do NOT recommend this for 2011 Wranglers, due to exactly what you're talking about. Evidently we don't want to be going around telling people to remove brackets from their seats.

It's your Jeep, do what you're happy with, and I'm still glad you had success. I'm just throwing in the cautionary tale, since I'm a corporate shill.

I put the Besttop underseat lockbox in my 2010 Wrangler Unlimited; it was simple to install and offers good security.

I had to do the same thing on my 2011-not a big deal-the bracket does only hold up a wiring connector. Just make sure that when you zip tie it back in place, that you have full seat travel without interference with the wiring.

love the box!

I went to install my under seat box in my 2011 last night. It would not fit. There are way too many metal brackets attached to the seat! Come to find out, I have the easy access driver's seat. Upon reading the "not so fine print", the box won't fit with the easy access driver's seat! I didn't even know i had the seat till trying to install this box. I thought it was only on the passenger seat. All boxed up and ready to send back.

I'm bummed, I REALLY wanted the under seat storage... What are some other solutions to secure storage?

^^^^^ What he said....There should be only one bracket and it is a useless piece of engineering.

With that being said I dont have heated seats so I am not sure if there would be any extra hardware for them.

...looking for a great deal for a lock box under an 08 model Wrangler.....can't tell real difference in the 2 models in the $49 vs $99 range.

Also, having trouble deciding whether the key lock or the combination lock will work best for me.

Any combi lock users out there to comment?

2011 & combination lock box

I have a 2011 JK & have no issue with the workaround to make it work, but I am having a hard time finding a combination box. There are plenty of keyed boxes.
Can anyone suggest a combination lock box out there somewhere?
Thanks in advance!
