Give us your FIRST Jeep mod!

I'll start with mine..

I've got a Black 2014 Sport Unlimited. First thing I did was replace the sound bar with these speakers and add polyfill.

Kenwood 6.5" 3-Way Car Speakers

Let's include some pics and descriptions!

I installed a CB radio, cobra 29 lx. I mounted it on the center footman loop right above the rear view mirror. The best part is I didn't have to drill any holes and it only cost $10 in parts.

My first mod was to take off all the dealer plate wrappers, the taillight guards and add my rebel off-road grab handles.

First Mod: Took it out and ran a few trails, got it dirty and pinstriped, and clunked stuff and busted off the Sahara steps on rocks and popped a fender. Second mod was repairing the fender flare and replacing the steps with Fab Fours sliders/rocker panel armor.

I saw what crunched, I saw which lines I could or could not take. And I got past the cringe of scraping metal lol - a little unnerving the first few times, but if the Jeep isnt making some type of noise, you are either a) at the mall or b) not playing with it hard enough lol! I am so so so glad I did that first before just throwing money at it.

I also had the benefit of riding copilot in a much much bigger Jeep - just seeing the differences how it just walked straight over stuff without blinking that I may have made of course, but would have had to delicately maneuver and plan my line more or needed a tug over. Now some of those bigger boy trails I would not run anyhow - but it gave me a definite perspective where I wanted to be comfortable playing and what equipment I did or did not need.

As soon as I got my 2013 JKUS home from the dealer I installed Mopar floor mats, grab handles, and Rubi rails that I worked into the deal, plus a toddler car seat. Then I loaded up my 2 yr old son and headed to the lake!

I believe my first mod was removing the cheap "air damn" from under the front. With a small tree that is.

Driving Home

After purchasing our 2013 JKU and driving home, the wife says, "I think we need a lot of upgrades for this Jeep". You don't have to ask me twice to do this. Of course, we have had other Jeeps before so she kinda knows what we need. Within the first 2 weeks we did the following:
  • Stubby Antenna
  • Complete new stereo system - speakers, sub and amp
  • More skid plates and diff plates
  • Mopar Stage III lift w/fox shocks, bumpstops, beefier sway bar and sway bar disconnects
  • 35" BFG KM2s
  • 17" Black ProComp Wheels - series 7005
  • Hand grab bars inside
  • Viair Compressor under hood
  • Lifetime air cleaner
  • Mopar hood lock
  • Door locks for outside hinges
  • Gas door lock
  • Locks for the wheels
  • Beefier Tire Carrier for the spare tire
  • New front Bumper
  • Winch
  • KC Daylighter HID's and KC replacement lights for main lights
  • FlashCal
  • Tinted all windows darker
  • Installed CB
  • Rock Rails
I'm not including all the other stuff like HiLift Jack, tow straps, pulleys, etc. I ordered when I got home.
