my son could fall asleep no matter what time of day it was...in the car when he was younger.

I could name tons of movies..but they are dependent on age, whether or not the kids will watch and enjoy

Make them look outside.
Play slug-bug
Play I-spy
Play the license-plate game
Involve them in conversation.
Make them listen to YOUR music.
Bore them to sleep.
Be a parent.

How did we ever survive without portable electronic nanny's ?

Make them ride outside the car if the make any noise. It will teach them two things. First, it will teach them to be quiet when you tell them to be quiet. Second, it will teach them to pray.

A TV in a jeep???? Man..times have really changed. PLEEEZE don't let the TJers know..they already think the JKers are abunch of soccer moms and pu$$ies. This certainly isn't going to help the cause.

Are you asking how to add video capability to th jeep or what videos you should put in?
I'd keep it portable... anything mounted is just more temptation for jackwagons to cut your soft top.

We use a MacBook, but you can get a small protable rig for $100-200 or so, and some of em even got double screens

Either you don't have kids, or you've never been on a 6 hour road trip with them. You have listed that you are a corp. pilot. I'm betting your passengers would rather watch a movie or listen to a music than play "name that cloud".

On a 6 hour trip I plan on one, maybe two movies. Portable DVD players are pretty cheap now. Get a case that lets it hang from the front seats so you're not constantly bumping it with your elbow on the center console. Bring headphones; not only because you probably don't want to listen to it for the 16th time, but if you've got a soft top, they won't be able to hear it. Red Box is handy since it's only a buck to rent and you can return in anywhere. As for movies, let them pick.

We've taken TON's of road trips with our kids in the Jeep. Hope this helps.

Thanks. They are 12,9, and 7. We often drive to Chicago from VA and no matter how high i keep the heat they can't sleep 13 hours straight. I am a road warrior but the kids are kids. Plus my wife doesn't want to hear their crap either. Lol. I will go to Sally world and loom for something portable. Thx again. By

When I was a Kid,, and we went on a vacation. We all got cardboard game kits.

The top row had 7 different colors,,, the side row had the make of the car.

When you seen that color and make of car,, you slide the red clear tab over that section. Kinda like Bingo.

Otherwise we did homework in the car.

You might mention this to your kids.

How times have changed.

Change for the better....NOT

My sister picked up a Portable DVD Player from Walley World a few years ago. It had Dual Screens, that strapped on to the back of the Front Headrests. Also, it had Video Plugs on the sides of each Screen, so you could plug in a Game Pad. One kid could watch a Movie, while the other played their Video Games, both using Headphones. Kept everyone happy for the 8 hr drive across the middle of South Texas, on I-10.

It's tri-powered, using a Battery, Wall Plug or Cigarette Lighter Plug. Cost her around $200. Well worth the investment!

Best of Luck on the Road Trip!

Cheers!

My favorite memories of the 10+ hour drives were playing games with my brother (no electronics were permitted!) and observing the outdoors... I would pack along so many things to play with and often not touch most of it, just taking things in. I've taken long trips in cars with other folks' kids and the movies drive me bananas! But I know the parents that like these, really find it to be a good thing.

Safe travels!

I agree, but I tend to be "old-fashioned" in my ideas. If I had children, they'd either be so out of the loop or they'd be frustrated with their old fart parents

My favorite thing when they were young was when they would ask how much longer dad? I would always say 20 minutes. Eventually they figured it out and stopped asking! When they were little, they didn't have the DVD players, back then it was VHS or nothing. We talked, played the radio, played games, read books, etc. Now, when I travel with my son or scouts in his troop, they get the DVD player...with headphones...don't forget the headphones....for God's sake, don't forget the headphones! :P
