As I was about to leave school today, my Jeep got hit with golf ball size hail. I couldn't believe it but the only damage was the hood. Others lost windshields and every panel was dented bad. My hood has about 20 big dents in it. My hardtop is black unpainted and it didn't have any damage. My deductible is $100.00. Are these hoods easy to pop out or do they have to be replaced?
yeah, i had hail damage to my hood a few weeks ago. My deductible is 499. And mine was only hit by dime to quarter sized hail. probably nothing as bad as yours. i still had the insurance do it. i'm a decent mechanic, but not a body guy
You are best to get it replaced. Not easy to fix and to do it well takes a long time. It is why most body shops just replace and don't attempt to repair.
When I saw the title I just knew it was a fellow Arkansan Hate you got hit. I saw some of the videos it was crazy. If you're deductible is that low I'd recommend along with the others just to get it replaced. I saw this pic on a swap shop page and got a little chuckle from it!
You're probably looking at upgrading.. er.. replacing that hood. Golf ball sized hail is going to leave some deep damage.
If you ever look around Oklahoma you'll see quite a few replaced hoods too. I have some minor hail damage and looked at replacing it too, the cost of a Mopar replacement hood is often more than many aftermarket ones, so the insurance can sometimes even save money that way.
