Good deal?

Hey everybody. I'm looking to enter into the world of jeeps for the first time and wanted to get some feedback on a local used one for sale. I am selling my lifted 2006 ford f250, something I thought I would never do, in order to buy a JKU Rubicon. This particular one has the 4.10 axle and is loaded including remote start. It also has a 2" mopar lift with 33" tires. It is basically brand new. I checked underneath and there is no signs of off-road use. Let me know what you guys think for the price or if it would be wiser to just get a brand new one for that much. Looking forward to being a regular once I finally seal the deal!

Minus the over sized wheels that is very nice JK. New sticker on the Jeep was probably around $45000 so they should come down $1500-2000 with some discussion. A couple of things:

1. Most dealers don't like to have used vehicles from another brand for very long. The either sell them fast or sell them wholesale. Use this to negotiate down the price

2. Don't buy into it's a limited edition vehicle because it's a 10A. That barely worked on new 10As.

3. JKs hold their value very well so you may not get an unbelievable deal but when you sell it will continue to hold its relative value.

1. WTF is with that chrome?? That makes it worth about $2,000 less.

2. Why is a 2013 so expensive?? I had a fully loaded 2013, brand new from the factory that stickered at $39,020. Ok, no leather and it was stick... but that was 18 months ago.

I know it's bad to compare deals ( I was a dealer, I should know better), but that's all I have for reference sake. It just seems like it's too much.

I would seriously make your negotiating point those wheels. Tell them you love the vehicle but it's going to cost you another $1000-$1500 to replace them and your budget is only about $40,000 as it is (I know, you can probably afford more... just don't let them know). Realistically, you can pay $38,500 out the door for the vehicle and if they can make that happen, they have a deal.

Personally, if I were you, I'd go buy a brand new Rubicon X. It's basically the exact same thing without the 10a Anniversary badge and you can get a brand new X for around the same price as a used 10a. Dealers like to use the "limited edition" BS with these, but the truth is, there really isn't anything all that special about them now that the X is still being produced. Plus you may get a better rate on the car loan..unless of course you're paying cash.

If you really like this one, throw those awful rims on Craigslist, and try to get them to knock another $2-3k off that price.

Good luck!

I agree on the wheels. The one thing that keeps me coming back to this one instead of a new one is the 2" mopar lift it already has and because I can get them 4,000 below the blue book value (Kbb gives a value of 44000 I believe).

Me, I'd pay the extra $5000+/- for brand new but if you could get it for -$38000, pull the trigger.
And... OMG, those wheels are hideous!!!!

5 on 5 is a common wheel bolt pattern. You can sell easy sell the DUBs and get the wheels you want. The installed lift kit is worth around $2K.

KBB values can be high. Look at the actual listings in your area. In any case it comes down to the dealer's willingness to negotiate.

I negotiated them down to 40,700 several days ago and walked because they wouldn't go below 40. It's been on the lot over two months but they haven't called me back on it.

Sounds like they over paid to whoever they took it from and are trying to get someone else who doesn't know to overpay for it. If you're not in a rush, keep at it. They longer it sits, the more flexible they'll become.

Give em 49,700 and sell the wheels online and get some new ones for the tires. Someone will like the bling.

This one pretty much is. Just a question of used vs new and price.

I agree, would go with a brand spanking new Rubicon X for that much.

Guess it really depends on what you want though, if you like the exact vehicle you found, then who are we to tell you what to do? IMO though, I wouldn't spend 40k for a used Jeep...even though it only has 5k on it. Rubicon X brand new (with no addons mind you) is 39.5k.

Good luck with your decision!

P.S. If you do buy it, definitely ditch the wheels ASAP, unless you love them...

I think you should grab it if you can get them down a bit more. It's a great color combo and will always be worth good money. You should be able to sell the rims without too much trouble and Rubi takeoffs are plentiful and cheap!

Just returned from the dealer in my Jeep. Decided to go through with it. I was afraid if I bought a brand new one I wouldn't get around to spending the money for a lift like I want. Driving it home felt good, real good. Does anybody else get the feeling of being unstoppable and ready to take on the world when behind the wheel of a Jeep? I did and I like it. LOL
