We have all seen many posts of bad experiences with dealers, so I thought that I would pass along my story of a good experience with my dealer. I decided that I wanted to buy a new Jeep. Like most on this board in that position, I did my research and determined the model, color and options that I wanted. I reached out to my local dealer and said "I want a JKUR with X, Y and Z options, and I'd like to pay ___ below invoice, can you help me?" They said "Absolutely!" I stopped by the next day and ordered a new JKUR with X, Y and Z options at ___ below invoice, as agreed, with $500 down on March 17. On April 21, the dealer called and said that my Jeep was in. I went by the next day, all of the paper work was ready, the Jeep looked great, and there were no hidden costs or surprises: it was exactly as ordered and priced exactly as we agree.
I had no history with Jeep (other than owning a CJ5 in the '80s) and no prior relationship with the dealer. The dealer was honest, flexible and efficient. They didn't try to tack any extra services or products on or in otherwise try to get more $$ out of me.
I gave the dealer's name to someone else on this forum and they had the same experience.
The dealer is David Dodge/Jeep in Glen Mills/Chadds Ford, PA, about 25 miles SW of Philly. The person that I worked with was Alyssa Mumley. Her e-mail address is amumley@daviddodgecllc.dealer.com. If you are in the mid-Atlantic area and are looking to by a new Jeep, check with Alyssa.
I am posting this in order to laud and encourage good dealer behavior, as well as to let buyers know that there are some good dealers that are willing and eager to work with you out there. Maybe the trend will catch on more broadly!
Good luck out there.
