Good price for 08 JK?

I am thinking about trading my 2001 TJ Sport for a 2008 Jeep Wrangler X. The JK has auto, hardtop and 44,000 miles. Looking at the photos on the dealer web site it looks like it is in great shape. They are asking $16900. Car fax shows no accidents and one owner.

I am not up on JKs. Is this a good price? Seems low compared to some other 08s I have seen. What are some of the things I should look out for in selecting a JK? Thanks.

JC

That sounds about right. I just looked on KBB for mine (08 with about the same miles) and that was close to my trade in value.

Not sure how much you're looking to spend, but you might want to see if you can find a decent deal on on 2012 with the 3.6 instead of the 3.8 in that 2008. Just a thought...

Other than that I guess you just gotta take a look at the Jeep in person to make sure everything looks good. One thing I've done in the past when buying used vehicles is getting something like a "mechanics rider" written into the contract for 3-5 days. Basically allows you to return the Jeep if you figure out something is wrong with it no cost to you. If the dealer isn't willing to do that, it could possibly be a sign something is up. Good luck!!!

Values are very dependent on location. Go to cars.com or a similar site and search for similar vehicles for sale by dealers or private party depending on which seller you are working with. It will give you a more accurate value than even KBB.
