Got a creaky hardtop? Try retorquing your mounting hardware!

My hardtop has been creaking in the back every time I hit a bump in the road for the past couple weeks, so I put a ratchet to the hardtop's mounting screws and noticed I got a few turns out of some of them, mostly the rear corner ones. Apparently they back off, because all I've ever removed are the freedom panels. Needless to say, the creaking is gone. I wonder if pulling the screws and putting some Loctite or some RTV on them would be a good idea to prevent them from backing off?

I wouldn't Locktite them. Just check them every once in awhile.

Is there a torque value for the hard top mounting bolts?

I used "German Torque" (good n' tight) on mine, I pulled on the ratchet til I got healthy resistance and stopped at that. I'm sure there is an official spec out there.
