I worked for Bose for 5 years, I definitely know it's possible, but most people aren't smart and experienced enough to make it happen. What's your plan going forward? Are you going to sell them?

I am about to drop at least $1k on a sub and amp in the next month. Like many others who replied, I am really interested.

Is your FIL by any chance named Dan?

No- but funny enough my MIL's name is Hollis. (Holly). You don't see that too often.
Won't be on the forum for a couple of weeks...

Ahh, when you mentioned holding patents on shallow mount woofers, it peaked my interest, as I have several friends who are in the industry and specialize in the same sort of stuff.

My name is actually Hollis though, something I have seen even less often than Holly lol .

I like the speaker pod, looks like it would work amazingly well with a modest woofer and two passive radiators

Hello!
The good news: my sub. has been in many months now- no rattles. It's gotten wet several times; no issues. I've had camping gear stacked on top of it- no issues.
The bad news: the second prototype was on the way and we scrapped it. We've had a lot of interest from outside the Jeep world because of the compact size. So we're making some design changes....but don't worry. It will still be Jeep-centric and fit in the same place. We're adding a solid grill that will be in a mud-terrain tire pattern for instance.
Legitimately I don't want to stop anyone from getting their groove on. We'd rather it be right....and we're set back another 3-4 months probably. I very much appreciate everyone's feedback and I am anxious to get this out- but it'll be awhile (again). It's GOT to be done by SEMA so we can show it- that's the goal.

JeepHerz... did Jeep rain on your parade with the 2015 changes to the sub enclosure? Or did they maybe buy the patent from you? I hope it is the latter.

I have a 2014 JK and I am interested in this set up. Seems like this idea is what the 2015 jeeps have in the upgraded 9 speaker alpine system but I went to the dealership and listened to one the other day to see what I was missing, and it didn't sound that much better than my non-upgraded factory system in the '14. Your product would be great for anyone who owns 07-14 jk and looking for an upgrade in sound. Any updates?

Geez- sorry all. I somehow un-subscribed to my own thread.
For better or for worse- no, we did not get any credit on the 2015 sub location. I am not sure yet whether the new location is a blessing...or a curse for us. It has serious flaws. Part of the delay was were trying to shoe horn in an 8" speaker. Not because we thought it would sound better- but for marketing purposes. People automatically think bigger is better- but the 2015 sub proves otherwise. (Thanks Chrysler!). Sticking to our 6" guns.
However obviously tons of time has gone by. Strangely paying customers are taking up my father-in laws (and his factory's) time. Still no second prototype. Its key because it will have the high-weight bearing grill, with the speakers inset a smidge more- so you can throw a ton of weight over it in the back. I've thrown camping gear, tools and spare parts over mine with no problem. But I have an image of someone stacking 4 35" Nitto tires back there. The 2015 location also shows why having it above the cover is just stupid. That thing WILL get in the way.
I appreciate all the help. But who knows when we'll have this ready. If I had a good recommendation on something to go with I'd tell everyone. My prototype sub has been cannibalized as part of the mad scientist's experiment- so I've had to put my Klipsche back in. What a pain in the a**. Don't get me wrong- it sounds fine. But I forgot how much I hated losing all that space.
