Got my Superchips Flashpaq today

First time using this. I have read many peoples comments on it and hope it lives up to the hype. Luckily it wasn't destroyed by UPS. The package was crushed and the tuner case was a little scratched on the side but it looks like runs fine. Besides that I hooked it to the computer and did all the updates which went fine. Took it out and hooked it up to the Jeep and shut all the doors, turned everything off, and started it. Everything went perfect and set it to 87 tune. Hopefully my tires get here tomorrow and then I will need to change tire size.

Alright here is the questions then.

Is 87 tune the best choice?

Has anyone tried the performance tune and when is the best time to use it?

Another one is the mileage XS save. Does it save fuel and does it make your Jeep under perform?

Is there anything else I need to do to optimize it to the best configuration?

Well did a test drive. When I first noticed my gas mileage decrease after the mods I did a reset of my computer mileage and did a test run down a common route I drive which is about 20 miles and 5 red lights. I reset and after I got home it read 17.2 mpg. I just reran that same route with the 87 tune and got 19.3. I know the computer isn't the best judge of gas mileage but it is a hopeful sign

I run the 87 tune simply because I'm not going to pay for premium for a few extra ponies. The drivability improvement is nice with the 87 tune. I plan on trying the mileage tune soon. Just run it and see if you like it and change accordingly.

I noticed a difference in the 87 to the performance 91 oct' tune. I use the 91, have 35's & an auto, seems to give me the best results. As far as economy it isn't much better maybe a little which makes up for the extra cost for the 91 octane.

This may be implicit in your mention of the "performance tune," but did you pay up to get the option of tighting up the shift points? I'm curious to hear somebody's review of that when they've been driving stock for a while.

OK, i am not biased towards superchips or anything but it definitely impressed me.

mileage XS- Jeep drove like crap and for some weird reason I got lower gas mileage than stock. This is on multiple trips without really pushing the engine, and being very conservative in my driving.
(1 fill up)

Tune 87- Jeep is more responsive and more torque. Gas mileage increased by 2 miles per gallon vs Stock. A lot quicker on the road and take offs.
(2 fill ups)

93 Performance- WOW; solid performance and power through the whole range. On the highway, the engine doesn't scream and is very solid. Went from 40 mph to 90 mph without any struggle from the engine. 1 mile per gallon less than stock.
(current first tank)

I did adjust the tire size on my stock rubi, for some reason it was set at 30" by the dealer.
Measure twice and on level ground to get the best result; also make sure the pressure is correct.

Check your gearing also, make sure dealer didn't screw it up either.

That is my two cents; hope it helps

Well if it does get me 2 miles to a gallon more then at 20 gallons a week (my average) or around 1000 gallons a year that get me around 2000 extra miles a year. At 18mpg thats a 111 gallons saved at 2.75 a gallon (hopefully lol) that is a savings of $305 in one year. Should pay for itself in about 15 months

Just keep in mind and I caught myself doing it. Don't get heavy on the pedal just cause it feels more responsive and you will save. Unless gas prices shoot up

I just got back from another trip to Denver. 2300+ miles with Mileage XS tune. Got 17.6 mpg. I figured that wasn't bad considering winds in Kansas were pretty bad going up. Didn't have any performance issues even in the higher elevations.

The only other tune I have tried is 87 octane. Actually saw about the same mpg around the hills here. Performance over stock is much better.

Well, seems I have an issue. Just got my new 285/70/17 with diameter before mounted of 32.71 inches and after mounted with load on them of 32.2 diameter (ground to top not side to side to compensate for compression).

I went to make tire size changes so the speedo would be right and set it at 32.75(before measured tire) and it looked fine. But when I went to change I noticed the Flashpaq showed the factory setting of 30.2 even though it had a 32" tire on it. Didn't think much about it and made change and down the road I went for a test drive.

I have a GPS and it showed the speedo correct on the stock tire 255/70/17 which should be a 32 tire but was set in the computer at 30.2" After changing the setting to 32.75 I noticed the GPS was 2 mph slower then what my speedo said (Speedo at 45mph showed 43 on gps). It is late now but I have changed the tire size in the flashpaq to 32.0 but not test drove it yet again. Just glad I have GPS to verify.

Not sure if this will be correct yet but has anyone else noticed this error in the computer?

As I said they had lowered the number on the stock size also I guess to compensate for the error. If it is actually that far off I probably have to change it even lower tomorrow. Gear ratio is correct in the computer as long as they put the right gears in.
