got Wrangler, questions...

Got my Wrangler Unlimited Sport S with 24S options today, so cool after two Grand Cherokee 2008/2011 I own before! Tons of fun!!!

Questions:

- On 4H, is it ok to feel some minor steering wheel vibration while start moving and turning same time?
- Please suggest good antenna replacement, should also be good for radio Thanks!
- Worse to get windows wind deflectors?
- 5w-30 Mobile 1 full synthetic, would it be Ok to use for engine? Manual said 5w-20. 5k miles to change oil is ok with synthetic?
- Not clear how to connect ipod, do I need connector?
- Mopar rubber floor mats, are the good? any alternative you might suggest?

Thanks!

1) Many members here are putting "shorty" antennas on, but losing radio reception. I plasti-dipped mine black, and I think it looks like a 100% improvement over stock
2) I bought AVS In-Channel Vent Visors and wouldn't even think about not having these. I learned how valuable these accessories are when I used to smoke. I always have a window down, so with these, the weather isn't a factor. The -in-channel ones are a much cleaner and streamlined look over the cheap looking stick-on type. Not to mention, the in-channel don't ever move, but the stick-ons fall off over time, especially if you live in a cold/warm/humid climate like Upstate NY.
3) Use whatever the manufacturer recommends until it's out of warranty - better safe than sorry, not to mention, that's what the engine was designed to use. Don't listen to to the multitude of "backyard engineers" on the forum, that supposedly know more than the highly trained and educated people that designed, tested and built this engine.
4) The Mopar slush mats are decent, but I bought the Rugged Ridge ones on eBay brand new for $30 and they seem to be much sturdier and higher quality. They are the exact same mat that Q-Tec sells. Don't pay $80+ for them. They aren't that good. I hope this helps!

Most of that stuff is kinda up to you (I would use 5W-20 just to be safe..but 2012's were listed as 5W-30)...however:
A Wrangler does not have a center differential....so unless you are on a low/no traction surface, DO NOT use 4H/4L.

Great questions! Why not take the Jeep back to the service department where you purchased it from and get them to answer all of your questions?

Most of those guys not only work there but are Wrangler enthusiasts and can be a great asset to your purchase. If you go to a dealership's service department where you didn't purchase from, don't expect help (if any). Unless you're paying them in stacks of thousands, if you didn't purchase from them or your vehicle wasn't sold at their dealership, what reason would they have to take care of you?

That being said... answers:

a) read your jeep owners manual. It specifically lists circumstances when it's recommended to engage the 4H, 4low and neutral.
b) antenna replacement - the only one that I can recommend is a cell phone booster. It's expensive and probably isn't what you need.
c) wind deflectors - neutral. Neither bad nor good. Really subject to usage.
d) perfect question for someone to answer in person to not only show you your options but also show you how to use the MP3 player in your vehicle.
e) I really like the floormats and while you're at the dealership getting a's to your q's you can pick up a pair.

Have fun!

Sorry to bother you, but people normally on forums to talk about forum topics and get more or share more information than you could get while visiting useless in my opinion dealerships. If you are here for different reason, please let us know what would it be ..lol

I also use the AVS in-channel visors, and I put them on every vehicle I own. They can usually be had for 40 - 50$ from any sort of auto part store or ordered online from Amazon or AutoAnything.com or something of the like.

In your center console, there should be a USB connector. It is up against the front wall of the console, so not easy to see unless you are looking at it from behind or at an odd angle. Your normal charging connector that you would use when accessing iTunes on your computer via USB should plug right in.

Mine came with the Mopar slush mats and they are okay. I doubt I would have bought them on my own, but not going to rush out to replace them. I am sure I will, eventually, but other things take priority.

Went with Weathertech mats... got a good deal from the local 4wd shop... replaced the antenna with the AntennaX 14" black billet with no change in reception, but I mostly listen to Sirius or iPhone for jams...

And yes on the AVS VentVisors... in channel only... I Plasti Dipped mine to match the roof and get rid of the shine...

You aren't bothering me bro. While I agree that forums are designed for ideas, thoughts and conversations, your questions indicate that someone in your personal life didn't do their due diligence in educating you.

My request in asking you to hold the dealership or seller who you purchased from accountable in teaching you how to use your vehicle isn't an unreasonable one. Your post indicates that you find them opinionated and useless, which means you probably didn't even give them an opportunity to teach you.

It's popular and trendy to demonize dealerships and burn bridges but you really shouldn't. Yes some are bad but not all of them are. And if you'd given them a chance to work for you, you would have had answers right then and there.

I'm neither a dealer or a car salesman but there are several on this forum and most of them aren't opinionated and useless. In fact, some of them may even post in here to help you. Go figure.

Have fun jeeping.

I will add that when I bought my TJ from the dealership, I'd simply made a request if my service advisor knew any places that sold after market accessories for the Jeep.

Not only did he recommend quadratec but also a bunch of workers came in and pitched their two cents: it was an awesome experience (took their advice, bought recommended parts) and everyone's input made such a huge difference in my ownership.

Not trolling, but would love for everyone to have that experience.

The search button here is your friend, i've found out tons of useful information just searching this forum. if there is nothing you can find on the things you'd like to know simply make a thread. not everyone on here is going to act like a dick... even though every forum tends to have a few of them... No offense to you courtney lol

As for going to the dealership pshhh i wouldn't even bother. once again just look it up on this forum, half the guys i spoke to when i was attempting to buy one locally had no idea of what was what.
