Has anyone actually installed these? How difficult was it? Seems...Like an iffy install

Thanks man. I never thought of using them for carrying other stuff like fleece blankets. Great idea and I kept mine... somewhere. lol

I have these. I bought both front and rear, but I haven't installed the rear ones yet. I use the front ones all the time. I really like them, and recommend them hands-down over any other bolt-on or strap-on grab handle I've seen. They're in just the right position to lift yourself up when getting in and out. They're very sturdy, and I haven't had any issues with leaks due to the necessary trimming. The installation wasn't too bad. It took maybe an hour and a half for the first side, and an hour for the other side. I haven't even come close to hitting my head on it either.

I have the strap-on grab handles too but I never use them because they're not in a good position to really be of much help.

Some cutting of the plastic is required. All the install PDFs are at the bottom of this page Synergy Suspension Jeep JK, TJ, LJ, YJ Grab Handles. They are particularly helpful for the passenger and I'd get some for my wife but I'm waiting on my cage first.

Thanks! I am seriously considering these. I am used to trucks that have the pillar handles, so these are as good as it gets for the Jeep I guess.

I read the instructions. I could not see what I could possibly cut that could cause leak issues, did you see anything? I also have soft top, could the bracket on rollbar cut soft top?

It's just minor cutting on the interior trim, it's not going to leak.

I have no issues with leaks.

One thing the instructions DON'T mention is that you'll need to grind down a little area on the soft top door surrounds.

No issues with the hard top.

I think when I first saw this type of bolt on handle in a post someone said that it interfered with the soft top door surrounds, or they had to trim them some. I'm not sure if it was this type or not. If not it was about the same. Honestly I think it would probably be worth the risk being these look really nice. I did some digging but cannot find that post.

While searching I found these on another forum. People seem to dig them but shipping is high.

I was thinking of using tennis or bike handle wrap on Synergy ones. I see metal clamps on the ebay ones, that scares me, ha.

And I am definitely not trimming the soft top door surrounds, maybe ebay ones it is.

These Quadratec handles were my first mod after I bought the jeep. They were low cost, comfortable and push up close to the rollbar when you want to. I don't use them much since I got my sliders but may use them more after I install my lift next weekend.

Attachment 93050

Only negative is I wish I could mount closer to windshield, but the pillar trim and freedom top alignment pin keep it there.

The price was good and I like how the entire wrap around is a cuff as opposed to straps. This is a stronger method IMO.

per daggo's suggestion, I went with the Rainglers. I use the driver side everyday to get into my Jeep. Supports my weight and hasn't shifted or come off.

I have Off Road Trail Tools grab handles. I like the full size and like how the handle sits up against the roll bar which keeps it out of my field of view and keeps me from scraping my head on it when getting i the Jeep.

It's just a little curved notch you have to grind or file down about 3/8" where it makes contact with the upper part of the grab handle. It won't be visible, and it won't cause any leaks.

I don't have a picture of the door surrounds, but here's a picture of the grab handles on my Jeep. You see how the top part of the grab handle protrudes out a bit. That's where it makes contact with the door surrounds.

I also am very pleased with the Raingler's. I don't feel like they will give out under heavy load either.

I snapped a couple of pictures of where you have to grind or file down a notch in the soft top door surrounds for these Synergy grab handles. It's really no big deal, for those of you concerned. The notch is not visible, and does not compromise the door surround's function or structural integrity. Pictures are of the driver side door surround.

I was thinking of ordering a set of the Mastercraft. I thought when they were referring to 2" or 3" they meant the size of the handle. Apparently it's the size of the roll bar.

What size is the roll bar on a 2012?
