Grab handles or steps for little guys

My kiddo is 5 and the JKU is my wife's daily... and he struggles to get in sometimes (it's a crawl onto the sliders, then into the car).

I think the big part is that he doesn't have a good grab handle and he either reaches way up to the door handle or to the door strap (that keeps it from opening too wide).

Are there any sort of handles that mount to the side of the b pillar that I can get? How about a second step (that we'd take off on the trail).

We have a '12 Rubi on stock suspension/tires (but I'd like to go 35s ) with ACE sliders (which helped, but it's still a big jump for him).

Look up the stirrup step..... Sounds like exactly what he needs, or carry a folding step stool... I carry one for my mom...

the way i see it you probably only have a couple of options. one, use a grab handle outside the vehicle that you would have to drill into the body....probably not my first choice. or, (sorry here's the redneck in me) tie off a rope or strap from the roll bar inside and let it hang so "kiddo" can grab on to it and help hoist himself up. you could put a couple of knots in it or loops he could grab on to. Beats drilling holes and just might work out for you. you never know.

Check these out. Rugged Ridge Part 13305.10 - Rear Seat Grab Handles by Rugged Ridge

We have these headrest grab-handles for my 7 year old daughter. She steps on the side step, grabs the headrest handle and pulls herself in. Works great!

Might find a shoulder strap from a camera bag or something like that and hang it from the front seats head rest bars. I have seen someone do it from the headrest and it hangs out of the way down the back of the seat.

My wife doesn't like the idea of the stirrup but that might be the way to go.

We have the stock roll bar grab handles and they are too high. The issue is the first step up onto the sliders is too high.

I'm wondering if I can bolt a RV drop step onto the factory rails...

I have the Smittybilt version of these: MasterCraft 683304 - 3" MasterCraft® Grab Handles - Quadratec

and they're pretty awesome. Might be too high for him to reach, though.

Do a search for AMP Research Power Step, I have these on two of my trucks they work great for a DD and lower about 13" from the floorboard.

This set might help if they can reach the grab handles that mount to the rear of the front seat headrests (bottom of the pic).

They happen to be on special this month and they are made in the USA.

I know I'm horrible... get that out now, right up front.

I told my mother in law to bring along a milk crate with a piece of rope tied to it so she can pull it in with her after using it as a step.
