Ya I confirmed with the dealer it's an alarm. They gave me a number of a company that they have install them....it was never offered to me when I bought it and it doesn't do anything....I can lock it with the fab and then unlock it with the key without the alarm going off...it's gone relatively unnoticed for the year and a half I've had it....don't want to pull it out and expose the screw holes. Any disadvantages to leaving it in?

What are the receiving ports in the front and what's the button for? Does it serve any purpose if I didn't buy anything extra?

If you didn't pay for it, and therefore they didn't activate anything, all you have is a blinking light. Still, that blinking light may deter a theft so if it doesnt annoy you then you might as well leave it..

Like it was said. It's a blinking light. Just leave it. Just keep in mind IF u have a starting problem where it won't crank at all and u have a good battery. Check that piece. They do fail sometimes. As long as it works leave it

Dusthol, I paid for mine so I'll keep it, at least for now, but Im curious would this be difficult for a jeep owner to uninstall on their own?

Just have to splice the wires back together under the column. What u see on the outside leads to a box with wires that go to the ignition harness. Usually it's a ground, power, and ignition. Just splice the wires back

Thanks. I checked it out tonight, I saw the box. I appreciate your help!

To the OP; your little blinking box that looks like crap is because you didn't buy the alarm. Apparently there is something that plugs into the front when the alarm is sold to a customer, which sets it to 'customer' mode. I find a card in my glovebox describing this. If you don't buy it then they don't plug this part in, and you're left with just the blinking light.

Like Dusthol says, its probably easy to uninstall. If you crawl under there and look up you'll see a small box most likely strapped to the steering column. Removing that, and splicing the wires back would work. Still, you'd have to research to figure out exactly what you're doing, but its possible.

Unscrew it and zip tie it up under the dash.

I'm a little weird about holes in my dash so I would probably order a new panel.
