LOL, material cost was probably a few dollars, but there's no way to tell for sure
a 13lb spool is $60, and 13lbs of aluminum will probably make 30-40 pieces that size in that aspect (it's a really "open" weave, didn't want it to cut off air flow completely, but I can weave in sheets that look almost solid, but it takes a lot more wire to do)
the outer edge is framed in galvanized steel tension wire, so it's pretty taut, and doesn't rattle at all despite the fact that I only secured it at the 4 corners with command adhesive hooks and double sided emblem tape. I was planning on bending up and welding a frame to fit the back of the grill but turns out I didn't need to.
total time spent was about 6 hours, but I've been making chainmail for a few years and I'm pretty quick at it, and most of it was done while watching TV anyway
first time knitting in a while, so hands got a little tore up... blistered up a finger cutting rings.
