Looks good, great craftsmanship!
I wouldn't have the patience to make all those rings, that why I just used gutter guard, it only cost about 3 bucks and took about 20 minutes!

LOL, material cost was probably a few dollars, but there's no way to tell for sure a 13lb spool is $60, and 13lbs of aluminum will probably make 30-40 pieces that size in that aspect (it's a really "open" weave, didn't want it to cut off air flow completely, but I can weave in sheets that look almost solid, but it takes a lot more wire to do)

the outer edge is framed in galvanized steel tension wire, so it's pretty taut, and doesn't rattle at all despite the fact that I only secured it at the 4 corners with command adhesive hooks and double sided emblem tape. I was planning on bending up and welding a frame to fit the back of the grill but turns out I didn't need to.

total time spent was about 6 hours, but I've been making chainmail for a few years and I'm pretty quick at it, and most of it was done while watching TV anyway

first time knitting in a while, so hands got a little tore up... blistered up a finger cutting rings.

There's Metalcrafters, and then there are METAL CRAFTERS.

Originality bonus, WOW!

Make one large enough for your windshield. Put it on when your winching.
Little extra "slow-down" for that winch hook, should it come at you at 150mph some day. Roll it up and put it in
a PVC tube. Easy to carry.
What do you think?

Very very nice. I liked it so much I did a quick search and found this
1 Pound Bright Aluminum Chainmail Jump Rings 1/4" ID (6400+ Rings!) $26.99
Heres the link for you guys who are to lazy to make your own rings (like me) but not so lazy you would build it if you had the material.
Amazon.com: 1 Pound Bright Aluminum Chainmail Jump Rings 1/4" ID (6400+ Rings!)

P.S. also saw where you could buy a little tool that opened an closed the loops for you.

That's freakin' beautiful! Long ago, I had a buddy who made chainmail tunics and cowls to sell at Ren Faires and he used the exact same technique. Really creative way to dress up your grill!
