not crazy about either one. i think the mesh looks way better. but if i were going to pick between those two, i'd go for the top one (red JK)... it'll keep more debris out of the radiator area also.... but it might be a pain in the arse to clean all those fins too...

That is what we have in our 2011 JKU Sport in Mango Tango.
I have ordered the Metal Crafters Black mesh for my 2012 JKU Rubicon in BFG, but it really is a way more expensive option.

When are you supposed to get the Gecko Jeep?

ah, another thread about grille inserts. I think you shouldn't spend over $50 bucks. I thought about the same choices you had (plus the mesh insert) and I ended up getting the rugged ridge billet insert and it has made me very happy. good luck with the choice.

Not a fan of either personally, but between the two I would go with the bottom one. My vote would be for one of the DIY methods or the Rugged Ridge method.

I didn't like either of those myself. I went with the Drake billet aluminum in black. Turned out great!

I went with the $40 kit off ebay and found that the paint started coming off after 4 months. Now it looks poor. Contacted the company but got nowhere with resolution.

Ditto here. Not crazy about either, but prefer A. Check out Rugged Ridge Mesh kit, only about $50 and looks great!

I've been laughed at for choosing the Metalcrafters insert because of the cost, and I'll accept that.
What I won't accept is compromises concerning materials I use on a vehicle that is greatly valued by me. You may take that as you will.

There are tons of options regarding this modification so it is easy to find one that works for you.

Okay, you guys convinced me that my easy option is not cosmetically the best. Think I will order the metal crafters. Many thanks for HONEST opinions.

Although jk have an electric fan, im not fond of blocking natural airflow through the grill by adding lights, inserts etc. Just saying.

Gutter mesh, zip ties, mounts and crazy glue. All from Loews and change from $25.00. Looks like factory! Piece of cake to install

adding a mesh insert is not going to effect it unless you just block it off completely lol. especially when driving over 50+ mph.

I laugh every time I look at my Metalcrafters black mesh grill insert knowing that it looks and fits great, it will never rust and I don't have to mess with the grill again.

I went with the Rugged Ridge mesh insert $44 from Morris 4x4 I am far too lazy to DIY the inserts in individually. Looks good and I really just want it to keep the huge amount of leaves out from behind the grill come fall.

The Metalcrafters are SS and looks like a better attachment system. The Rugged Ridge look just as durable, tho its painted or powdercoated. Take a lot before it will rust. For the price, the RR are the best option. Theres a thread about RR install somewhere.

They are just zip tie block mounts. Check out this lengthy thread over at JK-F with numerous examples.

Mounts are in the same section in the stores as the zip ties. Be sure to use some crazy glue under the mount so you will never have to go back and re-attach.

i went a different route and got brushed aluminum from smittybilt. wanted something different than black. i was told it works with my silver. and someone also pointed out, clear front marker lights would look good on my rig, replacing the stock amber.

Great to hear!
I haven't installed mine yet, but I have taken it out of the box to admire it quite a few times.
The black finish looks about perfect. I can hardly wait to see what it looks like installed.

You won't be disapointed. I love it. I bought it mostly because it looked like a good solid install...and it is. Looks good and very solid.

I went to lowes today and did the grill mod. There wasn't much for a selection for gutter guards. So I picked up 5 strips for 10.75. Painted it
mounts and zipties. Used some Jb weld just in case.

thanks for the tips guys!
