Hi All - Thinking about installing grill inserts to try and keep stones away from the radiator, but I'm curious how one would get to the hood release if they are installed? I have the Drake hold downs, so I'm thinking of removing the hood release altogether.
Would there be a problem in doing so I'm not seeing?
Your hood release has nothing to do with Grill inserts....I took the grill off, laid it on my kitchen table, put inserts on,popped the grill back on,took me about 20 mins.......
I guess I am missing something....when I release the hood via the side catches, I still have to manipulate the catch hook underneath (move it to the side) to release the hood. If I put the inserts in, I won't be able to reach the catch hook.
You should lift the hood up a pit and move the latch from between the grill and the hood. THat way you can run inserts no issue. I just ordered some and they will be in today, pretty stoked.
I wish my PO had thought of that... He installed inserts and cut the top part out of one of them to reach the latch. Looks like crap and I'm thinking of taking them off. Would have already done so but it looks like I may have to take the radiator off to get to the screws... then I'll probably have the screw holes to deal with... :nonono:
