Grinding/Squealing/Squeaking Sound - 2011 JK

Hi All,

I have a 2011 JK Sport S 2-door, lifted with a 2.5 Rough Country Body Kit and 34" Nitto Terra Grapplers.

I'm noticing a squealing/squeaking sound that comes intermittently at speed and does not let up until I break/come to a stop. I can't really pinpoint if it's coming from the front or rear of the Jeep but it definitely sounds like it's on the driver's side.

The sound lets up when I break. It started as a continuous nuisance noise when I was down the Cape this past weekend in Massachusetts..and went away after a 2 hr ride back home on the highway at high speed. Like I said before, it will come and go randomly while driving and sometimes be worse sounding.

Any ideas? I'm stumped. Granted I'm not a mechanic but I'm trying to learn what I can do before I have to go any further.

Thanks a ton.

Ryan

Might want to check the rear brakes. They are notorious for early wear.

Thanks for the tip. I forgot to mention that in reverse when cutting the wheel hard, you can hear the beginning of the squeak/squeal. Not sure if that adds/takes away from any thoughts.

Take out your brake pads and check these (brake caliper springs)
Original Replacement Parts 68003705AA - Brake Caliper Spring Kit for 07-13 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK & 08-10 Liberty KK - Quadratec

I had a horrible squeal coming from my back end and kind of how you described. Would come and go, sometimes was worse on corners.
Pulled my pads thinking they needed replaced but seen one of the springs was bent and rubbing on the caliper. bent it back to normal and all was good

Awesome. Thanks for that tidbit. My co-worker just took a ride with me (he used to be a mechanic) and mentioned calipers or parts around it. This seems to correlate with that.

Did the duct tape test ever work? I'm going to try that this weekend.
This started on my jeep a few months ago and is getting annoying. I never replaced my windshield, it just has a few chips.
