I have been looking at the Ground Anchor for self recovery mostly on beach use,
They look like great idea but is another bulky item to carry inside an already cramped jeep jku.

they look simple design, to me basically a spade shovel with a upright arm attached to it and then a cantilever arm to attach to the winch.

I was thinking that since I already have a high lift jack, that it could be used as the cantilever arm and maybe just make a spade shovel with the upright arm to hook to the jack.

does anyone make something similar to this or has anyone made something like this

Don't know how often you plan to use it
From my experience there is usually someone around to a snatch from.

If you get real desperate just Bury York spare.

I bought one and yes it is a bit bulky and heavy to carry around all the time. As mentioned there are usually many others around in the summer so I don't carry it with me. However in the winter here, the beach is empty, so I carry it. Like the spare tire and winch, it has never been used. Some day when I am board, I will take it out and see if it really does work lol.

doubt that will work with my rims I have the aluminium alloyed factory rims, not sure they would not bend and crack under the pressure.

it would be a good idea to make sure it works before you need it and find out it wont work :)

Don't hook into the rim.
Steel breaker bar (anything that you can use as a strong-back like the Hi-Lift)) long enough to reach from both sides of the tire. Then hook into the strong-back.

Even a good sized log (long enough) will work.
