Gum on my Jeep!!!!!!!!!

So...I go to load up my stuff in the back of my Jeep today after school and the hubs says to me "Don't go ballistic". So I say why, and he points to right behind my 3rd brake light next to the swing gate. I look and what do I see---someones ABC gum stuck to my Jeep and it was fresh (minty). I yelled out the biggest Mother F***** anyone ever heard. Why can't people respect other people's property. That really pisses me off. You just don't mess with the Jeep. Sorry had to vent, knew somebody here would understand.

Oh, one more. Before we saw the gum, a "fellow" teacher walks by and asks the hubs if I get to ride in the back of "his" car (the Jeep). Why do people assume that the Jeep's his and that he lets me ride in it. I nearly let her have it too. Like I said, no one messes with my Jeep. Again, sorry, had to vent. I feel better now.

How did you know it was minty did you test it?

Thats a bummer, I hate that people just have no respect for others.

Was soft when I dug it out and the smell was super strong. Makes me wanna go shoot something. That's when I need to go to the firing range to work out some aggression.

Eeeeeeewwwwwww. I am soooo sorry to hear that. Yeah, it could be worse, but it's really gross.
You need to get one of the stickers that says, This Is Not MY Husbands Jeep. I'll be doing so myself.

Glad that you vented, but don't blow a gasket over this......little goo gone and it's over.

You are correct though, there's no respect for other folks property these days!

As for assuming the Jeeps owner, well, payback's a b**ch......

Now, have an "adult beverage".....

I was just thinking about that very same sticker just the other day.

Eww! Gross. It wouldn't have been so bad, if I hadn't spent the day picking gum off of chairs and walls inside the school (Gum's been pretty bad these last couple of days at school). That was just the last straw for me. I don't mind that people chew it, I just wish they'd throw it away in a trash can instead of being lazy and sticking it wherever.

what a pain... my dad had someone set a burning sig on the ducktail of his '73 corvette stingray. Yeah, he was a little pissed to say the least! No respect... it was probably a hummer driver.

Someone did this to the commander about two hours after I had waxed it. Yeah. Ballistic is about right. They are lucky I didn't find them.

It's unfortunate that people don't respect each others belongings. They see a Jeep in a parking lot and think "Hmmm, why can't I have that? Oh well, it will make me feel better to abuse it"

Did you ever consider that if those students are middle or high school students and you go off on them about gum, they may have "tagged" your vehicle as payback? I've been at it now for over thirty years and can't say my vehicle has never been touched by a student. I had at least three incidents in my first 10 years of teaching. I do know that my attitude has made a difference in the past with how students treat me. If you are a grade school teacher, this may be less of a factor.

At least you're a teacher who understands. I about had to take legal action against my school because of the teachers. And I will not be going there next year. But some teachers get it. Give respect and you will get it (to the OP, I'm not saying that you arnt a good teacher in any way)

I don't ride their a**es about gum. I merely uphold the rules set in place by the school. I also don't advertise what I drive or even where I live.

When I was a new teacher I did discipline rather well and irritated students in the process. After nearly 30 years I still do it well but rarely irritate students in the process. I'm not saying that you do this, I'm merely stating that, for me, it took years #1 to recognize that how I did this had an effect on how students treated/thought of me and #2 more years to back out of the attitude that students had developed based on my interaction with them. What I am suggesting to you is that there is a relationship to your behavior and theirs whether you are willing to acknowledge it or not.

My first public school teaching assignment was in an inner city school. I was a disciplinarian (fresh out of the Marine Corps). Very quickly, one of my first experiences with students paying attention to me in a negative way was when the locks on my truck got "pennied over". It was harmless but it took me about an hour to figure out how to get into my truck without damaging it. After a few more reminders in different school systems, it took about 10 years to completely back out of my established reputation. This may not apply to you but at least it is something to consider. There is a certain edge on your posts here but that may just be venting.

You don't have to advertise what you drive or where you live. Students are smart. No matter how careful you are, they will find out....if they want to.

Just as I was pissed when I got "pennied" on my locks, I'm sure that gum on the jeep wouldn't make me happy either. I love my jeep.

Yuck! I'm with you on being pissed and I would have been cussing right along with you if it was my jeep. On the bright side, no real damage was done.

I get the same looks you probably get when you get in or out of your jeep. I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand that a woman can love a big, tough looking jeep just as much as any guy! I have always been drawn to this type of vehicle. This is my 1st jeep but I have had trucks in the past.
Anyway, you and all the other ladies on here with jeeps are awesome......girl power! hehe

Can't stand it when people use your vehicle as their personal table/ chair/ trash can. I can't count the # of times I've found beer bottles, etc left in the back of my old truck while I was at a gig in some bar; & now I'm starting to find them on the bumper of the Jeep

If someone's ride has a large opening or flat surfaces, it is NOT an open invitation to leave your trash there!!!

P.S. Remember, summer break starts soon
Heck, my wife is putting in her last day of the semester TODAY!

Yea, I hate when people do little stupid things like that. When I was in highschool I came out to a bed full of trash more times than I'd like to mention. My truck is not your trash can. And if someone had windows down or top off of a jeep, I saw people throw trash in there to. I had open lunch at my high school, so everyone left for lunch btw. I've also had stuff spilled on my truck as well.

Hey look at the bright side, it was a single wad.

Wifey managed to hit a chunk (musta been a mouth full) on the road. Hot chewing gum is very stringy. It looked like a spider on drugs was trying to spin a web down the side of the Jeep.

Cold pack on it and it popped right off. Freshly waxed helped too.

All she needs now is her normal follow the traffic truck while it sprays new road lines.

Can't count the number of times I've cleaned traffic paint off our vehicles.
