Of course you could always clean out at least half of the garage behind the Jeep and park it in there. Less prep time, less disassembly time as well. It is however a good idea for me since I don't have a garage, not even a car port.

Like with the emergency exits in a plane, always note where the closest parking garage is, and quickly seek shelter there when a hail storm is immanent. :happyyes:

who cares about your metallic vehicle, what about the animals?

I'm all in! This guy has big things going for him in life. We had a hail storm come through the Texas Panhandle about two weeks ago, dropping stones 2.5" in diameter. We don't all have the means to garage our vehicles, and fiberglass hard tops don't handle the damage as well as steel. Sure, we have insurance, but who wants to deal with all that BS?

Interesting concept.

I wonder what the setup would do with the high winds that seem to come with hail.

My first thought when I saw the OP picture was it would be nice if someone would develop something like above that was stowed in the bumpers and under the sides. Get notified or see hail is coming. Hit the button on my smart phone. The balloon starts unfolding like an emergency raft.

I saw H3br3wHamm3r's post and thought - hmm half way there. :)

If I'm home, I tuck under the carport which is right up against the house. The other side I have a lattice on with plants growing up it so it's only open on the ends.

If I'm out, I hope I'm near a car wash or OnCue because both have decent coverage.

When I lived at the apartment with no coverage, yoga mats or camping mats with bungies were good.

A hood and windsheild is only $250. I see $500 worth of padding and a ton of work. Park it at sonic around the corner if ya gots your garage full of overpced stuff that the jeep can't compete with.
