Hard Farewell Question

Guys & Gals,

I saw a thread about making a DIY stand for storing the hardtop. I'm gonna do that (eventually). In the meantime, is it ok to store it sitting on the ground (in garage) as it sits on the jeep?

Thanks for your knowledge. This forum is truly a significant part of the fun of owning a Jeep.

Not sure what you mean. I just put my soft top on and just want to keep the hard top in my garage (where I live) for the summer. Just dont want to store it in a way that may warp it or ruin it somehow.

Thanks

The title of your thread is "Hard Farewell Question".

Makes it sound like you were leaving the forum or something.

"Hard farewell" made 'em think you were bailing to another Jeep board.

"Hard top farewell question" is what you mean, I think. :-)

OK, I get it now. Glad your staying.

I've seen the hard top stored on the garage floor, but I have no idea it it's good or bad for the top.

Put it on a couple of stickers just to keep it level and out of the dirt and all's good!

What he said. Not sure yet what my JK top is made of, but my factory YJ fiberglass top has sat on 1x4s in the garage for every summer since 1989.

My hard top spent its first summer sitting like that on a wood deck. It wasn't a problem.

I usually set mine on some padded bar stools that I have in the garage. I just put one in each corner of the hard top.

Just don't put ANYTHING on the top. We put some light boxes on the top as it sat in the garage a few years ago. When it was time to put the hard top back on in the fall there was a dip in the top from where the boxes rested.
