My name is on the window sticker, arrived this morning. Got an email from the Dealer announcing its arrival and asking if I want to come over and see it/drive it, so I did.
Now I gotta see - Guess that says a lot about how great ALL our rigs are that I do love my Sahara too :happyyes:
Decisions decisions... certainly solves my Bumper/Hood/Rails/Gears.... issue.

Oh man, that's some serious stress right there.

I spent a good 30 minutes climbing in it/under it/ around it.... three or four customers came over during that time asking if it was ok if they looked too.
Funny, it's like a two headed suirrel..... people walking around it like it might bite them Oooh, Ahhh ....Oh.
Drove nice. I went easy but you feel the gear difference. I like the handling on the country roads I took it on.
It "feels" bigger/higher than my Sahara.
Motor is nice and quiet.... Nice bells and whistles. Some I didn't expect.
Not a speck of rust anywhere under it.
I liked the little tool pouch you get now....

(You guys are a bad influence)

I was deciding to buy either the Sahara or Rubicon until I saw my Hard Rock that I own now. It is like I never drove/spent any time with those other Jeeps after simply looking at the Hard Rock!

That HR in white would push me over

Your Sahara is an awesome Jeep, no doubt.
But that is one awesome looking Hard Rock. :thumb:

If you keep the Sahara, could you send it to AEV?
If that wouldn't work, I'd seriously consider the HR. Especially that one.

Good luck man! I know it's tough when you've got a great vehicle already. But I think you'll be happy down the road. :beerdrinking:

I had called AEV a couple weeks ago. Very nice people BTW. Layed out what I perceived my options to be: Buy an AEV which is about $60k, send mine which would be a drive or ship it and it would be there for a month or more. That's when I ordered the HardRock.
It is clearly a "want" decision and I am unapologetic about that. I, like many here... Work very hard, sacrifice much and don't really "splurge". Four(4) kids in College.
Blah blah I know you guys don't need to hear my story.
Most of the Men in my Family don't make it much past 60 and that fact isn't lost on me.
I will hand it to Jeep on this HardRock edition. For years I said WTH doesn't Jeep put together a Jeep and sell it the way most of us go build them - and here it is.
I have a couple emails back and forth with the Dealer and I'll know by tonight or early tomorrow.
Thanks for all the dialogue - it helps.

Wow, my dad passed at 52 and my grandfather at 68... All the men in my family find it difficult to "live long". I know we've had some interesting discussions and that just tells me more about how we think and why we think somewhat alike.

If you choose the HR, put some 1" pucks on the front springs and plan to keep it for "ever". :beerdrinking:We can trick it out in a few years!!!

I say that as I look out the window and see a Rescue Green go past with a 4" lift and 37's on it... BAD ASS!!!

Mark me in the camp that hope you get it.
It's a lot of Jeep for the money. :thumb:
I think you'll find that desire to get something else will be satisfied for a long time.
Like most all of us, you'll want to mod this or that, but the base of the HR is such a good package that it's more "fun" stuff that "need" stuff.

I'm one of the first to jump on the "lift it before you buy it" bandwagon, but in your case, I doubt it's necessary, and maybe not even beneficial.

Yeah, I think you'll be a very happy camper, if you get it. :)
And if not, at a minimum it will give you ideas on what you might do with the Sahara.

Good points C.Scott, appreciate it. It is indeed a lot of Jeep for the money. I was impressed when I went and "visited" it. First I'd seen one.

For those confused by this thread that maybe are wondering "is this guy a little nuts ordering a Jeep and then wondering if he's gonna take it".
I didn't order this Jeep. It was a disagreement with the Dealer about can a 15' with the power train Warranty still be ordered they said No and I said Yes so, what do they do. Take my email of " IF" I were to order one what would it be and went ahead and ordered it.
Low and behold I was right and a 15' shows up.
So, now it's here and obviously I like it - I built the options.
My Fist New Jeep was White and Black.
I like stark contrasts.

Given that I have no skin in the game and I own a Hard Rock, my answer is obvious... GO FOR IT!!!! :)

Pretty darn nice. I've been really impressed with how well it does climbing rocks/etc. while whispering "slow is better than stopped.... slow is better than stopped..." It just seems to effortlessly power on and over.

I have 4.10's on mine and 35's and it's just fine, no issue at all.

The white on the Hard Rock with those red accents are Hot!

I love my '14 Rubicon X. I got it with the 4:10 gears, auto and now with 35's. It's awesome in the mountains here in colorado.

By the sounds of this thread... you already made up your mind... Go for it! and enjoy!

I just bought an Anvil JKUHR with 4.10 gears. Actually Johnyp26's build was one of the ones that motivated me. Our stories are similar. My dad passed at 48 with a massive MI. I made it passed him as I turn 50 Monday but still his death kind of haunts me. I am sure you know what I mean.

Once I learned the Anvil was being discontinued I went to order one. Too late. I found one in transit to a local dealership and bought it off the truck. I am not one to splurge either. My socks have holes in them but I have a new Hard Rock. My other vehicle is an 04 Tundra.

I friggin love my Jeep and can't stop thinking about it. My goal with this Jeep is enhanced stock. A mild lift and maybe 35's. That's it aside for some minor accessories. Then I'll keep it forever.

My only regret is that I spent a butt load of money on myself and that makes me feel a little uncomfortable. But I make no apologies. ive spent years taking care of the family. They are good. I wanted a Jeep for years and the trim level I picked was the Hard Rock.

-The stock wheels are better looking than any after markets that I see
-great looking but not perfect bumpers
-the slush mats are the best that I've seen
-4.10 gears and no real reason to upgrade
-although cosmetic the red high lights really set it apart
-the list goes on but the best part is the hood

I friggin love my Jeep but I think I have already said that.....

Of note: I was all set to run Toyo 285/75r17 until I read your thoughts on E rated tires. Now I am back to the drawing board.

Wow that's cool that my build helped someone's decision. Appreciate the kind words!

Now Rubicon buy the damn Jeep!!!

You and I have similar tastes. I also prefer the black fenders and roof. White is incredibly sexy and she is going to turn some heads, especially when she is clean. White, black, and red like that is amazing. I was looking at white, billet, and baja yellow for the hard rock. My wife talked me out of yellow. I just kept going to the billet and ultimately selected it.

I'm not a fan of the Sahara personally...the stock Sahara seems kind of girly to me...no offense. The rubicon hard rock is the nicest JK yet...next to the 10A with the red leather interior!
