Hard Top Cart

Just wanted to share my hard top cart that I built.
4 casters from Lowes and scrap wood from the in-laws pile made for a cheap build. I suppose I only have about 20 bucks in it and about 2 hours total construction. It's going to be painted red to match the Jeep eventually, but I couldn't wait to use it.

Looks good! That's the best way to store a 2-door hardtop - face first. Did you put any padding down on your cart to protect the front corners? Cool that you got the doors and all to nest in there together. Love it!
Are you wearing a soft top now?

I did put some pipe insulation down. I am going to add some short sections of 2x4 to let the front edge rest on.

For now, I've got the tonno cover, duster cover (behind the seats) and the mesh bikini on.

Is there any negatives to storing the hard top in this fashion (i.e. window up rather than down). It seems that all the plans out there, including the ones that are sold, all have the window down...

I ask because I built one that puts the window down first, but I like how yours takes up less room while storing everything!

From what I've seen, the two door tops can be set either way, but the four door tops can only be set on the rear of the top (window down).

The only negative I found was a small rubber seal or gasket that was crushed when I first laid it down. My remedy was to add a section of 2x4 for the front of the top to lay on, preventing the seal from touching the base of the cart. It also had the effect of tilting the top back slightly which seemed to make it more stable.

Not to dig at the four door guys, but in my mind, this is another reason to get a two door...

looks good man..
I built my own cart (for my 2 door) based on the plans that are fling around on the forum..i ended up modding it as i saw fit.. i have a very tight space to fit my top into so i modded it to have the top basically straight up and down, like yours..instead of setting on and angle like the plan shows...
I through a tarp around it and some ratchet straps over it. I'm not worried about the straight up and down making it fall over, like i said i have it in a tight space, litterally no place for it to fall.
YOur idea makes good sense to me..nice work
