hard top hoist and straps question

Most pulley systems... a purchased one or something homebrewed... have straps that run length wise front to back to hoist up the hardtop. Can that harm the weather stripping that seals the back window? It looks like it might deform it if left hanging for too long...

Would a pool noodle in-between help?

I used a hardtop 'hoist' with the metal 'hooks' but also (for safety) used cargo straps similar to your red strap through the doors and the back window for the whole summer season and no problem at all with the gaskets. The wide straps spread out any deformation so there is no damage to it.

I would recomend the pool noodle too. Cut it open down the middle and wrap it around the edge to protect the weather stripping. then the noodle takes the squish and not the stripping.

Pool noodle is a great idea or that grey insulation foam you get to put around pipes would do to
