Hard Top Hoists. Lange Orginals, Top Cap EZ, or Harken

I need to install a hoist in my garage for the hard top. What is everyone going with and why?

Thanks.

Installing my Harken tomorrow afternoon. Decision process was more or less Eeny, meeny, miny, moe between the Lange, Racor and Harken.

I originally got a Lange for my old Jeep, then after setting it up it turns out the pulley block causes the hardtop to hang low enough that I couldn't back under it. I sold it and switched to the Harken. With it I could pull the top just about to the ceiling and easily back the Jeep under it. My garage is around 9' high so keep that in mind if you don't have a tall garage.

I went with the Top Cap mostly due to how my garage is setup, but am happy I found it. Low garage ceiling (a bit over 8ft) eliminated the racor and floor to ceiling cabinets along the walls eliminated most of the rest due to the pulley setup.

The Top Cap is self-contained so I have control of the top off and on and I can still get the top within about 6 inches of ceiling. Also, the rear bracket has clearance for the rear glass seals so no worries about deforming them and having leaks.

Bruce is easy to work with and makes sure you get the correct mounting hardware for your garage - finished or unfinished, ceiling height, and spacing of trusses. Highly recommend!

I have the lange in an 8 ft garage, after i lift it up i just park hood first under it. I use a long bungee cord hooked to hook in garage to keep it from spinning. It works great

I had never seen the Top Cap EZ. I was set on Harkin, but I think I like this one better. Prices aren't listed on website. Any ideas on prices??

Just ordered the Top Cap after talking to Bruce. Not cheap, but looks like an easy set-up and design.

I also have the Lange. LOVE IT (as much as you legally can with an inanimate object). Also fashioned a shelf out of inexpensive wire shelving, so when it it "Hard Top Season", I connect the wire shelving to it, and store my bundled up soft top and accessories.

I installed the Harken a few weeks ago in my 10'-4" garage ceiling. Although it would probably have been easier with two people I did it solo. It raises the hard top high enough that it completely clears the Jeep, whether I pull in forward or back in.

I was going to do a DIY with parts from Home Depot but by the time I bought everything to raise it standing in one location it wasn't going to be much cheaper than buying a pre-made kit from Quadratec for $130.

I installed my Harken yesterday and the only thing left is the knot tie-ins to the straps. It does look like I will have A LOT of extra down rope after that though. It is the 12' rise version and I DO have 12 foot ceilings.

I bot the Recor and installed it a couple of weeks ago much better set-up than I had with my TJ. This one has sopport-cables on all 4 corners and I can put my front panels on top along with other jeep parts not in use.
