Get the Stinger!
I also did it for the same reason!
it projects just the right amount out in front of the grill...
also the install was easy, did it by myself
no need to remove the bumper,
I only removed the insert for the winch, added the brackets, removed the clips off of the insert, where the Stinger mounts...
then place the insert back in and loosely bolt it down, install the Stinger, then tighten it all back down!
in that order, and it's a piece of cake!
Good Luck!
I've been tossing this about also, I'm just not sure I like any of the hoops/stingers. Of any I like the X hoop the best.
Also, do you really think a stinger will help with a deer hit? Yeah, if he's right in the middle of the road and you hit him, but most time they dart from off the road and catch a corner or front section of the vehicle. I really think the bumper protects better than the stinger would...but that's just me. I was purely looking at looks over functionality for me.
I am planning on using the Maxiumus 3 light bar mounting brackets to install a 20" light bar, so that's where one of their hoops would look really sharp, with the light bar.
It is a bugger indeed. ALL factors come into play and the just when you think, AhHa! Something changes and back to the Start line.
I was convinced - Stinger
Then
The one with the bends (Classic) with a 20" light bar
Then
I ordered the Low Profile.....
I want some architecture out there and want to stay as "in scale" as possible.
With the JWSpeaker heads and fogs I'm thinking maybe some cubes or a 10" now.
Thanks Guys.
Well here's my vote, though I'm a bit biased. I initially planned to do a 20" LED bar with it but I read the description wrong about their LED brackets working with the stinger and the 20" bar, so that's being moved to the hood and I have a 12" bar on the way for the bumper. I love the look and like others said it's a very easy install. You'll see the LED brackets there waiting for the bar.
But that requires the filler panel to be cut, correct? Also, I heard that the Mopar may not fit the Rubicon with the electronic discos. Any truth to that?
Get the maximus stinger! We did (twice lol). I really dig the design. We also did the lighter mounts and they have worked out well. Install is very easy.
Boy I'm looking stupid all over the place tonight, people pointing out I'm missing screws, people proving me wrong that you CAN mount a 20" with a stinger....I think I'll show myself out.
Check out a vendor called Rubitrux. I was sold on the x hoop until I saw their pics of the stinger. Just ordered a Stinger from Northridge after seeing the photos.
My "thoughts" were/are... I was looking for something of Quality to break up the "linear" appearance of the Front Bumper without becoming Too obtrusive or going to vertical. I have always loved the ARB/AEV bumpers but felt that unless the rig was lifted with 35's or 37's the Front Bumpers looked Too Large for our rigs (just my opinion).
The Maximus3 products appear to be Quality although the mounting process and strength is still a mystery for me.
The LP seemed to fill the bill for what I was shooting for in a macro sense, I guess we shall see early next week.
"IF" it ends up adding some strength and protection while improving on the linear aesthetic of the HR bumper that'll be great, IF not, it won't be the most expensive mistake I've ever made.
I like the LP Maximus hoop. It does flow well with the front end, and looks good sitting above the winch. :thumb:
I went stinger thinking it was a "real" stinger which is designed to help in a nose-over incident. I think this Stinger is marginal at best in that regard, and I hope to never test it.
But it did provide a great place to mount the Hi-Lift jack
Does anyone know what these Hardrock/10a/X bumpers weigh?
...in the most respective manor I ask and felt the members in this thread would know instead of starting up a new thread. I would think this question has been asked but I certainly cant find it. Came across EVERY bumper weight but these.

Wow, so they're pretty light then.
Im trying to figure out what ome springs to buy and guess after your reply that the bumper wouldnt really count as an "aftermarket bumper" in the weight department.
Scavenged the IPF 901XS driving lights from my TJ until I can get some BAja Designs or ARB Intensity LED's.
Maximus Classic went on easily, without removing the bumper. Luckily I had a low profile 5mm in my toolbox so I was able to tighten the bolt under the front tow hook.
2 questions for ya, Are you able to remove the grill with the classic bar installed? Also, do you have the mopar hood lock installed? Able to still unlock the hood with the bar angled back? Thx :beerdrinking:
Can't wait to see pics. I have been eyeing the Maximus line up since picking up my Hard Rock.
