Hardtop Storage Rack/Dolly

I'm looking at purchasing a storage rack/dolly for my new 2012 JK Rubicon hardtop and wanted to know what people are using and how they like them (pictures are appreciated). Thanks!

Build one yourself. Mine cost $26 using plans available online. I'm on my phone and dont have the link but the plans are free. Took me about 20 minutes to assemble as I had home depot cut the lumber to length. You can sort of see it in this picture.

Its hard to tell from the picture in that pdf, but does that dolly have the top resting on the window or just above the window?

Well using info on this and other links I build my hard top dolly. Thanks everyone for the detailed info! In a few more weeks I hope to take the hard top off for the spring/summer and put the soft top on.

Any danger of the top warping from being stored on end like that?

I just built mine per the write up and appears the window hinges will sit on top of the blocks that you build up.

Since I do not have a garage, this seems to be the route I need to take for the time being. Anyone have issues doing this?

I will build this in like 2 weeks I think. That way when April rolls around, the hard will come off and the soft will go on.

In the middle of building this and a QUICK QUESTION....The 1X2 that holds the glass in place, do you measure 9.5 inches from the outside of the 2X4s or the inside? $31.60 from ACE

Good Thread

Way to go to whomever developed the instruction sheet. This build saved big $$$ and was fun to put together.

What we need next is to enhance this cart with some arms to hold the doors as well.

Suggested change to plans

I took the hardtop off again today and put it back on the stand. The stand certainly works as stated, but I noticed that the contact area could be better. So I unscrewed and moved one of the 59" boards 3" closer to the opposite side. This created alot more contact area with the front (bottom of window) as well as allowed the rear of the top to sit better on the buildup blocks.

So, if you are looking to build this rack, consider moving the long boards 3" closer together.

I made two this weekend and they work great. I would recommend adding a center 2X4 to support the window brace and going with 4" caster wheels instead of the 2"
