Has your fog light burned out?

I have 400 miles until my bumper to bumper warranty runs out. I just saw that one of my fog light bulbs is not working. Is it worth putting the Jeep in the shop for a day or should I just buy a bulb and do it myself?

Maybe the bulb is not covered?

I'm pretty sure that a light bulb won't be covered under the "bumper to bumper" warranty. I believe that is considered a wear item... Tires,brakes,wipers...etc. there's my 2 pennies.

Bulbs are only covered for 12000 miles or 1 year under warranty.

Easy to get to from the back of the bumper, just twist and pull. As far as replacements look on amazon or ebay, dealer price is ridiculous.

The dealer gave me a new one covered under warranty. Replaced it myself in 5 minutes. I gave the dealer the burned out bulb back.

Send a message via Yahoo to SilverSport
Some dealers will replace bulbs as a goodwill gesture.

This is a little off topic, but who else thinks the fogs should stay on when you use the high beams? I was thinking about changing my front bumper out and using the fog light leads to power new off road lights, so I don't have to add another switch in the cab.

Anyone buy from a local parts store?

I was at the local auto parts store today and tried to remove a bulb to take in to be sure I bought the correct one. The bulb socket would not bulge! If I had tried to turn it any harder something would have broken (the socket or my hand). I did manage to pull the wiring harness out from the socket but that's all.

Suggestions?

BTW, now both fogs don't work. My wife's 2007 they have not burned out yet. I do use mine much more that she uses hers.

They don't twist out as I found out at the parts store. This will explain it:

Jeep Wrangler Fog Light Bulbs Replacement Guide - 2007 To 2011 Model Years - Picture Illustrated Automotive Maintenance DIY Instructions

My local parts store did not have them. The Jeep dealer did for $26 + tax not the $50+ I have seen in some threads. Still high though. I will not be running them except when really needed going forward.

If you want two bulbs I will ship my bulbs to you for $8. I just got a new front bumper and I'm using the fog light lens for another project, but the bulbs are trash to me. I can pack and ship them down there for that price. PM me if you want them they have 6k miles on them and I haven't touched the bulb (I know better).
