Head lights on...am I crazy???

So I've been having some issues with my JKU which led me to take the Flash Cal off and return it completely to stock. Now I am noticing my headlights are on all the time no matter where the switch is as long as the vehicle is in drive. Are all 2012 this way and I'm just now noticing it?!? Or is this the result of something else?

I see a lot of JKs around here of all years, I have yet to see one with the headlights on unless the wipers are on or it is around dusk. It sounds like it was set for Canadian DRL mode.

Reading the '15 manual, this is a setting you cannot change in the EVIC personal settings. You may have to have the dealer do it.

Although it doesn't make sense....according to the FC I'm set back to complletely stock...I wouldn't rule it out as I've had some other issues with the FC. Time to do some serious research. I have a feeling a call to Super Chips is in my future.

Does the headlight stay on ALL the time or when you have dis-engaged the parking brake? If the latter, then its functioning as a DRL, if the former, not sure what is going on since there is not setting for on all the time aside from turning on the headlight using the headlight switch.

Let's go back over the details:

Headlights on in all conditions when Jeep is in Drive. The only way they go off is if you turn the switch to the running light position. They are on, when in drive, if the switch is in the OFF, ON, or AUTO position.

The dash lights function as usual.

It was not like this (as far as I'm aware) when I first purchased it used.

The FlashCal has been set to "Return Vehicle To Stock" setting.

My build sheet states "BUILD TO US MKT SPECS - US DEALER RETAIL - INDIANA SHIP TO STATE CODE

I ran the FC again, it's still set to stock setting. If you go through the list of settings it does state the Jeep has "DRL-Low Beam". The only thing I can figure out at this point is either the FC somehow changed this setting and made DRL stock, or I truly am crazy and my Jeep is a bastard that had factory DRL and I never noticed.

What this leaves me wondering, is if FC initially saves your factory settings somewhere, and when you have the FC go back to stock, it restores those saved settings.

Or when you go back to stock, FC simply applies its best guess as what the original settings might have been. If FC's best guess includes that you're Canadian, then this might answer why you now got DRL. :D

Yes it is definitely DRL's as you said they come on when your in drive. That's how mine work (Canadian) from the factory. My Flashpaq has the option to shut them off though even in Canada, although it's illegal.

Your US spec JK shouldn't have full time DRL. You would have noticed it. I know you have it set to "stock", but it seems like it is set to low beam DRL. I would set it to running lights or fogs DRL and see if that turns off the low beams as DRL. If it does, I would then set it back to stock to see if that turns off the new DRL setting. If it does, it's fixed. If it doesn't and you still have it set to stock, I would then do a battery disconnect for a few minutes and see if that enables the Flascal to accept the stock setting. If that doesn't work, then I would contact Superchips.

It is set to "Low beam DRL", which, according to the FC is my "stock" settings. I did do the battery trick, it did not help. This morning I set it to Fogs DRL, and at lunch I'm going to try setting back to stock again and see what happens. I realize this shouldn't sound like a big deal, however with the issues I've been having with my transmission I want to be able to set it to COMPLETELY stock for dealer service. Right now I'm afraid the FC is leaving something behind that the stealership might find and use against me if it comes to a warranty claim.

Sounds like you have a Canuck version eh?

Daytime Running Lights should turn on the HIGH beams on a LOWER voltage.
Your low beams should not be on until you turn them on.

Do you have a Canadian Passport?

Return to stock isn't arbitrary. It is really "return to what it was before you used the programmer." Your jeep had the DRL option set on before. And you put it back the way it was, so DRL is back on now. If you want to disable DRL without using the FlashCal, you have to go to the dealer and have them do it.
