Lightbulb Headlight ponderance

could it be that Jeep has decided to jeep the headlights on the Wranglers the same and not switch to HID or any other headlight assembly due to lower cost to fix? With it being trail rated out of the box, this is the only explanation I could come up with when their other lines have different headlights.

I'm def. not the one to ask for this sort of thing, so if anyone else knows more than me that'd be great. Just trying to figure out why they'd keep the headlights they have on them.

Same reason they keep the stock 3.21 gears. They're consumer retarded.

For the headlights, here:

jk headlights

aftermarket headlight bulb review

2011 Headlight upgrade (works for '12, as well)

I am also disappointed with the headlights. I just placed an order for the Philips +80 bulbs. Once I get them installed, I will let you know what I think. Fairly inexpensive, and they should make a quick upgrade to the stock lights--I hope!

And yes, I could see them keeping the same headlights due to cost/abuse when using off-road.

I have a 12' and my headlights sucked. I replaced them with the Deltas.. I couldn't afford the Hella kit. But I'm pleased with them, and have them augmented with the 6" delta Fogs. Lots of deer here, and snow is setting in. I'm happy now with visibility.

Wait till Hilldweller gets here...thought I must admit, when he trashes your lighting choices it's usually with the utmost decorum.

I have the Delta lights because of the LED DRL. No one else has DRL option!

Most of those cheap HID kits you see really are not all that they are cracked up to be, especially when you need a projector housing and high and low in one bulb in a relatively small housing. You can get MUCH better light using a good quality H4 bulb and a good housing. Doing some mad custom work to retofit an OEM HID projector and housing into a 7" housing will be a pain, especially when those HID's are mostly low beams only.

It's not a DRL. Delta just calls it that. It's an LED "city light" which you can install in an E-code Cibie if you really want - it ain't that special...
Delta's bulbs are also not Xenon, as in "Xenon" like the German car companies mean, which is HID.
Delta lights are marketed with a bunch of gimmicks along with a little bit of engineering.

None of the HID retrofit kits that put a rebased HID capsule into a filament reflector work well or are functional. The orientation of the light source is wrong for the parabola, the hot spots are mislocated, and they are illegal.
There's a way to put HIDs in a JK and a couple people have done it ---- you use complete HID assemblies, just like using complete LED assemblies if you want LED headlights.

Yes; the moderators took a stand that I didn't agree with. They are allowing the open discussion of illegal activity on the board, ie modifications to JKs which are illegal and pose a safety threat to other motorists.
I believe that those types of threads should be closed.

Call it city light LED, or LED DRL, it is a LED that is on whenever the jeep is running. Does the E-Code Cibie have the hole for the City light/DRL LED built in? If they do, why do they not offer the option of City light/DRL LED? I replaced the Xenon bulbs with Philips+80, they are big improvement, the Delta's should come with them. The Delta is an E-code light.
