Unhappy Heads up on being careless!

Today I decided to change the oil in the differentials, and extremely simple, yet I was careless while putting the fluid in the rear diff. I wasn't paying attention, grabbed a container of oil, proceeded to insert tip in fill hole when I realized it still had the cap on. My knee jerk reaction was quick, but the cap fell in! Now, I have a quart in already, knowing the cap is in there, also knowing an easy job just got more difficult! Well I salvaged most of the oil, pulled off the cover and realize I have no rtv seal left! Well, the moral of the story is, be prepared for the worst and remove the caps before ya start! Unbelievable!

Happens to the best of us.

Last time I did the Diffs and oil on my TJ. I put the RTV on top the radiator and it fell inside my engine bay. Well I forget about it and went for a quick drive after the oil change. Drained and cleaned my rear diff and was like "ok... Where the F is the RTV"?
Well I found it on the side of the road. I think the fan hit it and/or got run over. Sliced and flattened, RTV was all over the place. Had to use my fathers car to go get more

one time I stripped a banjo bolt on the hpfp attempting to change my cam follower on my gti while getting it OUT so after I changed the cam follower I just asked my buddy to take me to VW to order a new banjo bolt and waited a week until I could drive my car...lol..that was so annoying, was very upset with myself. but things like that have to happen or we'll never learn not to do them again.
