Heated steering wheel?

Hey all,

I know gloves would do the job, though, a heated steering wheel would be just awesome. I've searched through the forum and the internet but haven't found it anywhere. I know that for example Dodge has it as an option, but is it applicable to a JK? Mopar doesn't have it, neither does Check Corporation. Any suggestions?

The Jeep is slowly moving from Fred Flintstone to George Jetson.

You're right, but I bet it would go well with the panoramic sun roof.

You just wait till your fingers are turning red, then white, subsequently blue before entering in their final stage of 'deathly black' due to the cold. You will need your painted sistine chapel by then to pray for a heated stearing wheel

Heh Heh, my jeep has a real efficient heater and my hands don't get cold--no matter how cold it gets out in the Sierras, or Nevada desert (-15 deg)-

My Jeep WK2 has a heated steering wheel. It rocks in winter
That being said, the heat vents on the wrangler which are direct able are a great substitute, I just aim them at my hands. It's all good.

With 20+ days of 100*+ weather this year I can say that heated steering wheels are not that great.

I'd buy a heated steering wheel. Lemme know if you find one. I'd give up an airbag for one...

Well, if Mopar might be willing to do a heated steering wheel, they could route some A/C through some vents there too! 100*+ problem solved. Kinda like why did it take a couple of years to add bun coolers to the bun warmers.

With all the electronics being loaded onto the steering wheel most features ( radio buttons, speed control, cluster buttons & horn switch) are actually controlled in part by the cruise switch that acts as an electronic module receiving all the signals from the switches and sending them on the the main computer via the LIN data bus to the cluster module and then on the the TIPM via the CAN data bus.

The bottom line is programming would be required to get the OE heated wheel up and running. Dealers are unlikely able to accomplish this as it's not a factory option on the model.

yeah i'm all for the COOLED steering wheel haha we had 35 days of 110* or more this summer.. and we are still in the 100s now, keeping that thing cool enough to drive is always rough.. but warmers, i know you can buy after market warmers for motorcycles so maybe strap a few of those on your steering wheel

My brother's 2011 Range Rover Super Charged Autobiography Edition has heated and A/C steering wheel...as does the seats...but he's a pansy doctor and can't handle my jeeps. I do have to say, they are nice, but I would not break down and let him know that...too loyal to my "old school" jeeps...lol!!

You are right. I was being way too complicated. I should have suggested super high efficiency Peltier Chips in the steering wheel cover.

Hey, anything is possible but the heated wheel is like $400 and don't want people to waste money on these tricky things I they only knew the challenges these days.

I saw a guy on eBay selling an '11 GC heated wheel for that reason a few months ago.
