pardon my incredulity......that's some serious pull there......perhaps some winching maven here can calculate this out for me....given the standard FPM rate of Jeep winches, even the NASA-grade orbital version....just what would the cable-movement rate reduce to, if we were actually hooked up to such a load? And what would the cable-strength have to be to achieve such pull?
His math is quite suspect on that one. As simple as I can put it (as you can get pretty crazy with pulley setups): using a traditional block setup, the line speed will decrease by the same factor as the pulling load increases. So two lines (one block) doubles the capacity, it halves the speed. Three lines triple the capacity and reduce speed to 1/3. Dividing that 4+ million number by his winch capacity gives roughly 380...so 1/380 of the original line speed.

Cable strength requirements do not change when using pulleys. For example if you use an 8000 lb winch with a single block, there's still only 8000 lbs being pulled on the line. There are just 'two lines' pulling 8000 lbs hooked to the Jeep. Where the extra capacity is actually needed is at the block and the block's anchor, which must hold 16000 lbs.

An example image I found showing this:

Meaning he would pull his "VEX" apart with the claim he makes....

In fairness, that claim struck me as "tongue in cheek." It was just so over the top that I didn't believe it was to be taken seriously. Given the other claims he makes, I could be wrong on this but that's the way it stuck me.

I agree. This thread reminds me of high school antics where all the "cool" kids beat up on the dork and kick him AFTER he has been knocked down.

I have no "real" evidence one way or another that he is a fraud other than web posts (which are virtual and could in fact be any one of us with an alias) but I'm really surprised at how childish this thread has become and even more surprised that the WF moderators haven't shut this thread down... or even deleted it.

I do know that whoever responded to some of the questions here as "Robert Stevens" DOES know a thing or two about Jeeps and real fabrication and not just ordering someone else's parts and installing on a Jeep like many of the folks on this forum I read about (like me).

I thought this was a Jeep forum where we share common Jeep related interests and stories but the only common interest here is bashing someone else.

It's so sad that our society has come to this.

I'm just sayin.

OK, flame on.

I agree, when he got called out, his entire internet dialect changed, he went from post signing his threads to saying words like "phucking", and his grammar went to okay to awful as well. Total sham.

Type "vex" into another forum app. Pulls up a thread from 2008 about winching. Someone talking about "my buddy and his 83 cj7 pulling out a cement truck. Same stupid pic.

Did ya happen to catch the post over there where he claims to have murdered 5 people in his travels? Or at least shot. Also for someone who has been to so many countries he sure seems to focus on the yucatan.

Exposing a fraud or taking an interest in a human being that clearly does not think in 'normal' ways = worried about humanity

And yet

Thread after thread after thread after thread asking the same questions over and over again with a clear failure to figure out how to do basic searches on the internet = humanity is great???

Weird...

re: "I thought this was a Jeep forum where we share common Jeep related interests and stories "

If our goal individually is to motor on thru the BS and other challenges of the day, we need to recognize that 4 wheel drive is required not just in rugged country but in the virtual trails we virtually inhabit.

I'm all for a fantasy life and can be entertained as easily as anyone.

The disappointment to find such a series of implausible yet alluring escapades when served up to an all-too-enabling audience illustrates the risk in assuming anything in the virtual world is real.

That he has done such in an astonishing variety of sites suggests opposite answers:

1) he is deeply troubled;
2) he is a gifted gamester;

Pick another possibility of your own choice.

How do we distinguish the difference, and what do we do after deciding such?

Frankly, I continue to wish he were as he presented initially. Yet evidence has accumulated that such is unlikely.

I don't take that as a mark against anyone or any site. It's part of the grand world of cyberJeeping in the electron databit graphic imaging of virtual non-reality.

The singular reality here is VEX himself: a work of splendid creative efforts.....unless it is all Photoshop...and even then the creation is remarkable, as is the narrative supporting the entire episode. In a way, is this any different than the cliff hanger episodes of the Grade B movies of the 50s many of us joyfully visited in our youth?

I even like the Indy hat.

I'm going out to hug Rocinante now.

He must have found his meds. He's much calmer right now and doesn't even realize that I just got him to confess to being banned from the parent site of JKO (Pirate 4X4) as well as insulting the owner of JKO.

I'll admit, I doubt the poster is really who he says he is and the "Hello" threads are just inciting hate and a lot of folks are feeding on it. I don't get it is all I'm saying.

Personally, i think the best way to stop this kind of nonsense is to ignore it or the moderators just ban/delete the posts.

Calling him out is one thing as most folks are smart enough to figure it out on their own afterwords. But really, both sides are provoking one another and the whole conversation seems futile and childish, especially from the OP, whoever he is.

Everyone deals with this kind of stuff in their own way and that is their prerogative. I admit, it was entertaining at first but now is just sad IMO.

Crap. I'm old enough to be your Dad. But, I've only been through Arkansas once, and that was less than 12 years ago. You seem to be older than that...

Please tell me you are kidding about the SEAL part. If he is falsely claiming military service/awards, he can be prosecuted for it under "Stolen Valor". That's jail time.

Damn, see even I can't remember all the BS. He would be killing folks left and right if he were to be in your neck of the woods.

The guy is really whacked. I've noticed he is taking to answering single posts as many as three times. One as each of Roberts two personalities and the other as his female counterpart. This is like a damn soap opera. I'm only watching still because there was once a jeep involved. Haha

I noticed that too. He replied to one post like three times with different tones ranging from "i respect your opinion" to the equivalent of "piss off". Is anyone of WF a psychologist? They need to chime in here. Something isn't right with this guy. Maybe he has MPD or something combined with schizophrenia. In a single post he told daggo that he would "beat him senseless" yet he would also like to have salsa with him. I don't even know. Also, for the record, you don't cook salsa Robert.

I understand what you are saying. But if you kill the thread how many more people will be scammed by this guy. Look at how many views it has had. Every view is somebody who may encounter him somewhere and say hey! I know who this is and it is all BS. HE came to WF with his BS. KIll the thread you kill INFORMATION!. It's not like we are attacking a newb with a weird question. Hey look at CHADWICK, we made him famous and have expanded our vocabulary. HEY! He CHADWICKED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
