Help! Air leak on new 2012 Hardtop

Hi guys,
Just picked up my 2012 Jeep Sahara with hardtop. Driving home I noticed a slight air leak. When I got on the highway at 70mph the leak was really bad. Went home and took off the two front pieces and reinstalled and still nothing. What do yall think this is? Should I just go back to the dealer? Is there any tips from you old pros out there? Thanks for the help

Robert

You follow the install instructions?

There is a certain way they say to put these things on. Me, I just throw them on top and no problems. Some people do have leaks though.

Where is the air coming from?

It was leaking air before I ever took the top off. It sounds like it is coming from where the windshield frame meets the top. I checked everything, how it was aligned with the pins etc. Still leaking air. I will contact the dealer when the weather is better. Right now it is sitting in its garage stall until the bad weather clears out. Don't want to drive it and have a puddle of water in the floor. Oh well it is a jeep thing I guess.

An air leak? Is it just noisy (normal), or can you actually feel air rushing in?

It ain't a hyperbaric chamber.

There is definitely an air leak. It is whipping in around the front. I know it is not my land cruiser and don't expect it to be whisper quiet but the jeeps I test drove did not have this issue at all. It is not normal, my dealer will get it fixed. Been doing business with them since the early 80's. I just was hoping someone had this issue and resolved it so I would know what to tell them.

Yeah, if you can feel it swirling around, then take it to the dealer. Hopefully it's something simple like a pinched seal, or maybe one of the roof panels isn't on right.

Yeah I figure the factory may have installed it wrong or something. The top has never been off the jeep so it happened at the factory. Thanks for the input

being BRAND NEW, take it to the dealer. they will put it right. part of buying new is you have a 3/36 warranty. and things get documented. when jeep called a few days ago to check up on my satisfaction, they had everything in front of them that was ever done to my jeep.

I get a lot of annoying wind noise from the huge gap in the top corner of the drivers door. Passenger side is the same but the gap isnt as noticeable. Doesn't leak water though.

2012 Wrangler Unlimited hard top leaks

My new 2012 did not leak on the highway in hard rain but did leak in a car wash when a jet shot water from the back to front of the roof. Removed the front top two panels and noticed a depressed 3" X 1/2" channel in the rubber (about an inch and a half on either side of the middle seam) in the back middle of the removable front two top pieces. It looks like it was designed to have the depressed channel in it. Will have to figure a way to fill in this channel. Wonder why it was put in there?

Crank up the A/C to the max

Roll up all windows

Close all the doors(with you outside)

Mix up some soapy water in a spray bottle

Spray around all the gaps and seems

Where you see bubbles...you find your leak.
