Help. Buy 10A or 2014 Rubicon X?

I have a chance to trade in my 2010 Wrangler on a new 2013 anniversary (anvil/red) or order a 14 Model or buy the 14 Anvil on the lot which looks just like the 10a but no red seats. I can get about $4000 off the brand new 13 10a but the X model on the lot is also anvil and has the same hood and bumper and red accents. No red seat. Hmmm. Need to decide by Monday AM

Thoughts ? Thanks

I can get the brand new sub 100 mile 10A for 42500 Canadian! It has all options, except smokers package, and side airbags. But, I can get the X for 3000 more, but it's a 2014 - and it looks just like the 13 10A model. That's my dilemma

10A no doubt. This is just my opinion, and nothing else, but the X package to me is the 10A's step brother so to speak.

I got my 10a for 43000. Sticker was 50150 cdn. I think you're in the right ball park. I would still get a 10a over a rubi x.

Can't see any reason to do anything other than picking up the 10A.

I would get the 10a depending on the $ . What is the total cost of the X vs the 10? I was in the same situation as you as my dealer had a 10a but they didn't want to budge on the price so I ordered a 14x. I got the X cheaper and it's a model year newer. I wasn't going to pay more for the 10A badges.

the 14 model will or should also have the new EVIC, that is if you order connectivity, also the X is available in more then 3 colors compared to the 10a. In all reality their both the same thing, get what you can get a better deal on.

10a if it is cheaper. You get a specialized model and you can use the extra money to personalize it. If you can get the x cheaper then get it. The bottom line is they are both great and if you can get one cheaper than the other, get the cheaper one an mod it out.

I love the 10A but I'd get the Rubi X for the simple fact of having a 2014 vs 2013. It will be 'new' for another year. I know, stupid stupid... but that's the type of dumb stuff I care about.

In my view, the 10A is not really brand new. It is a year old used car; low mileage, but still a year old.

Nothing is wrong in buying such, as long as the price is right for a year old vehicle. Somehow, I don't see just under 10% off sticker as being all that right. If you really want the 10A, I would haggle the price down way more than that.

BTW, I do think the red seats of a 10A are great.

The red seats would seal the deal for me. The only unique part of the 10A ended up being the red seats after the X came out. Otherwise I would grab a standard Rubi and load it up the way you want....

If its the same price, 10A. It is a special edition and will be rarer. I also love the red seats with Anvil.

Two questions, do you like the red seats and how long do you plan to keep it? If you like the red seats and plan to keep it more than 3 or 4 years, the 10A is the obvious choice. The 14 will have better resale for the first few years, but not enough to make up the initial cost difference, and that only matters if you sell it in that time period. IMHO, I would pay the extra $ not to get the red seats, but that's just me. Either way you will have a great Jeep!

The 10A is $ 42700 (the only thing it does not have is the 730n (has 430) and it has painted fenders (which I don't want). The 2014X is about 4k more.

DWT,

In my driveway today are two Sahara Unlimited's...and I always wanted the Rubi, but wanted to hold out to see if the 8 speed or diesel came out. No plans for that, so I thought I would trade in the 2010 and get my wife the 2013/2014. This was, I get it after her! I plan on keeping it (along with the 2012) for ?? years, and then get the diesel (let's hope 2015)...and my son is buying my 2012 in the fall, so I can go get a diesel M-Class this fall, flip it to my wife, and then I get the 10A or 2014. Either way, I get out of the Sahara into the Rubi.

Steve, the 10A sounds like a deal. You could replace the painted fenders with black ones and still have over $3K in your pocket.

I got brand new rubi take off flares for my Sahara for $100 from a forum member. You can then sell the painted ones for $300. 10A for sure, and keep the 4K for toys.

Seems to me you wanna hear that the X is a better buy...... But so far 90% of the people recommend the 10A and you still come back with arguments.......

Was in the same dilema 3 weeks ago.... 10A sticker price 52300... paid 10K less here in Ottawa.... Dealer had both in stock too...... decided to go with the 10A which is a limited edition especially in Anvil with red seats.... His brother X is just another rubicon .... when you decide to sell down the road, you'll get more for your 10A than you will for your X and your X will have cost more......

But hey.... Go with the X....

I can't understand why people keep feeding nonsense into this guys head.... the 10a is no more then any other rubicon..... there are numerous threads stating the differences between 10a VS X and the only things that distinguish it are the red seats, badging and tires.

So tell me once again how is one rare and one not??? to the OP go for what you really want, and once again go for whats a better deal. if you want red seats or "special" badging go to the dealership or Ebay and you will find these items will pop up.

I agree I get a kick out of the people that think the 10A will bring more money because it's a special addition. No one will care its a jeep and most will be modded anyway. Pick the one that you like and what you can get the best deal on....

Isn't your complaint about people's opinion proof that it will be worth more; price is what someone is willing to pay.

No complaint from me so keep living the dream. I had the choice and chose to buy the X. Enjoy the 10a and good luck with resale.

Also I told the op to buy the 10 if it's a better deal. I was just saying you that think the 10A would be the one to buy regardless because it's special are dreaming. If it's in such high demand why are there still 13 10A's sitting on the lots when the 14's are out. Also the dealers are heavily discounting the 10A's trying to move them.

The point being this topic of rarity has been beating to death numerous times on this forum. feelings of 10a owners were hurt and threads were closed. the fact is even some 10a owners will tell you the same thing. they were Duped so to speak. they thought they got a rare one of a kind jeep, spent $40k Plus and in a matter of 5 months later jeep releases the rubicon X.

No one is telling this guy not to buy one. its definitely a beautiful piece of machinery, but once again its not rare....

10a. You save money and get better suspension and tires. Easy decision IMO. Plus I like the red seats, but I can see how that may be an issue for some folks.

Depends how long you plan to keep it.....the X is always going to be a year newer. If you're going to trade it off in 2 or 3 yrs I'd go for the 2014 as it will be worth more at trade time because it's newer. As much as 10A owners hate to imagine it they only got a "regular Rubicon" with a few minor cosmetic options....it's not an exclusive special edition that everybody will long for and pay whatever it takes to own one.

10A. The 2014 is a wanna-be, and no, I'm not a 10A owner. ( unfortunately)
