Hey everyone! Need some help choosing windsheild lights for my JKU Sport.

I've narrowed it down to the following:

KC Hilites 6" Apollo Pro - 100w Long Range
KC HiLites Part 150 - 6 Inch Apollo Pro Series Long Range Light Kit - 4 Wheel Parts

KC light mount (front)
KC HiLites Part 7316 - Windshield Light Mount Brackets - Fits 2007 to 2015 Wrangler, Rubicon and Unlimited - 4 Wheel Parts

KC light mount (side)
KC HiLites Part 7317 - Light Mount Bracket - 4 Wheel Parts

Just not too sure which mounting brackets would be best. I'm looking to get the KC mounts but they have two to choose from. One mounts on the front but with a 6" light I feel this would block some view on the corners of my windsheld. The second one mounts on the side, I like this idea but not sure how this will look and will my antenna be in the way (I have a 13" Antenna-X short antenna).

Did a search on google but haven't come up with any photos of the side mounted setup, if you got any photos of your rig with the lights mounted on the side feel free to post them up!

Thanks and cheers everyone!! :drinks:

I was just looking at the specs for that light and it says fog. I would think the beam pattern of a fog light would be distracting for a windshield light. I could be wrong.

But I have to ask, why not go LED?

Good catch on that, I didn't realize it said fog as light type. I'll look into it more. The reason why I'm not going for LED is I like the look of the big halogen lights.

JETNOISE - I didn't notice the smittybilt ones, that could work for me as they kinda remind me of the MOPAR brackets but at the fraction of the cost!

GAKERSM - thanks for the advice! I guess I'll be looking at the slimlights instead and going with the Smittybilt mounts recommended by JETNOISE.

Thanks again everyone for your input, saved me from buying the wrong lights!! Cheers guys!!

You definitely don't want the fogs mounted on your windshield. In fact, you need the 130W spots. Even the 100W driving lights would be distracting because of the glare from the hood. I have the slimlite version of the 130W - same as the Apollo but with a metal housing.

Mine are mounted on the KC brackets. I liked those best because they kept the lights closer to the centerline. Some of the others sit a little farther outboard and could interfere with the antenna (I have a 24" antennaX). The KC brackets also come with a gasket to protect the paint - not all of them do. They do not block much of the windshield.

The side mounts look strange to me, but that's JMO.

Slimlight 6" 130w long distance on KC sidemount windshield brackets.
Apollo 6" 100w driving on the bumper.
Absolutely no downside I can find for the side mounts -- you can't even see the lights behind the A-Pillar, so zero diminution of your sightlines out the windshield or side windows. At night, no hood glare comes back at you. And if you're worried about them being too wide on a tight squeeze, just spin them 90 degrees -- then they don't stick out any farther than your folded sideview mirror.

The third pic is from Close Encounters, right? ;-)

Something I didn't take into consideration when I first put lights at my windshield was how it would effect my visibility. I didn't want brackets that stuck out to the side so I installed my KC lights with the regular brackets mounted forward on the A-pillar. I soon got to hate the "basketballs" in the corners of my windshield so I switched to LEDs

Just bought a pair of 40W Spot LED Lights from Aurora LED, similar to the Rigid Duallys. Waiting on arrival and Spring for those. Also bought the 7316 KC HiLites bracket to mount them for the windshield.

Cant wait to see the output of the Auroras, I have heard very good things.

Installed and wired last night. I went with the kc front mount brackets and also purchased a kc wiring harness. Used the kc switch for now. Very happy with the lights! $35 plus shipping for 4 off eBay. They are 4in round so they do not intrude on your vision out of the windshield very much at all. They look just as bright as my "name brand" lights in that photo. Good find!
