I removed my jack to clean and lube it and this plastic part was laying in the compartment. I cant figure out what its for or where it goes.
Thanx in advance.

Get that back on pronto!!! It's the amalgamation clip, it holds your jeep together. Without it the jeep will split into two pieces!!!

Couldn't resist.

I actually have no idea what that is. When I was inspecting my Jeep on the lot there was a piece of plastic tubing under the passenger seat...nobody had any idea what it was or where it could have come from. It didn't even look automotive. So far, my engine hasn't spewed any fluids.

Your part looks fairly specific to...something, anyway. I'll bet some Jeep geek is gonna know exactly what it is.

No offense, Jeep geeks!

In all seriousness...I wonder if it's something that holds a part of the jack in place. Just from looking at the photo, if you flip the whole thing to the right, looks like a channel to hold something, with the round button-thing used as a stop.

Pulling that outta my a**, but it has a certain logical feel to it.

Okay...just went and looked at my jack storage compartment. No dice. And didn't see anything nearby that it could be, either. Hmmm. I've got a Tuffy security deck enclosure in the back though, so couldn't see too much.

what year / model JK do you have? I looked in and around the jack compartment, and rear storage area of my '12 JKUS and nothing similar visible. Though it looks like a plastic clip made to release when the circular area is depressed, so maybe its a grommet hole clip of some sort? Do you have a dual top

I looked at my rear seat rail...all I've got is seat rails and bolts.

BTW, I'm in a '12.

Rubber drain plug is in place, this plastic piece is alot smaller and different shape than drain plug.
When I removed the jack, it was stuck inside the center portion, so I am thinking it is part of the jack, but cant figure it out.

It might be the Flux Capacitor - get it up to 88mph and find out.

Hey, I actually tried that. On a three hour trip I had to buy three bags of ice! The cargo area is directly over the muffler.
What was Jeep thinking?

I still do it try using a piece of sunshade for a bottom of your factory cooler!

Part not from Jeep, at least thats what local dealer told me. I went there for some warranty work and had the parts department take a look, They could not find anything in their system as to what this mysterious part may be from.

Its for sale if anyone is interested. lol

Man, I'm in the market for an unknown part for an unidentified vehicle! But only if you're asking price is $100 or more...
