I didn't attempt to search this one because I'm unsure how to describe the noise. About 2 weeks ago I was in my wife's JKU and I heard a noise that sounded like the OBA (Viair) under the hood had come on. I looked down at the switch in the cabin for the OBA system and it was off. Right about the time I looked at the switch the noise stopped and never came back.
I flipped the OBA switch to on to see if it was the same noise and I realized it was not the same noise. The noise I was hearing was much lower in volume and didn't vibrate like the OBA system does when it is running.
The only way I know how to describe it is it sounds like a compressor running but at a low volume. I've owned a few vehicles in the past with auto height adjusting suspensions and it sounds very similar to me as that system does when it is adjusting the height of the vehicle.
Yesterday I spent about 3 hours slowly driving my wife's Jeep home after a mishap (located here if you just have to know: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/sto...my-284353.html
I'm about 30 minutes into the drive and I hear the noise again. It lasts 10-15 seconds, goes off, and seems to randomly come back on 5-10 minutes later. This goes on for about an hour and then it stops all together. When I get home I tell my wife about what I was hearing and she tells me it has been going on for about a month.
Anyone have a clue what it might be? I know I can take it to the dealer but I feel like it is going to be one of those if they can't produce it they won't fix it kind of things. Who knows how many visits that might take. It would be great if I could gather some additional info to share with them before I bring it in with the hope of resolving it the first trip.
