Help me out Willys!

Trying to figure out what is in the W upgrade. Can anyone help with this?
Jeep does not make this an easy process not being able to compare side by side.

Go to jeep.com. Start a build your own wrangler. On the model selection screen, click compare models. Boom! A comparison of every available wrangler model side by side.

Sorry for sounding like an ass. Jeep doesn't have a comparison page for the Willy's...

I think it depends on whether you're talking about the 2-dr or 4-dr Willys Wheeler. I think I read somewhere on this forum that you get more for your money with the W package if you're looking at the Unlimiteds. You can figure it out by trial & error by building it on the Jeep.com website, but I agree they don't make it easy.

I ordered a 2-dr manual Willys and decided not to go with the W package because it was over $2000 more and from everything I could tell, all you got was air conditioning & the option to add the power doors/windows/locks. With the regular (K) package, I just added air conditioning for much less than if I had chosen the W package. From what I could see (& my dealer agreed), the W package on the 2-dr is for those who really, really want the power doors/windows/locks & are willing to pay the significant extra cost for them.

I just ordered a Willys JK 2dr. Not sure how it is for the Unlimited but it looks like the W comes with AC and also has the option to get power windows, locks, mirrors, etc. You still have to pay for those power options but the W makes them available.

Seems the W has Power Convenience Group, Auto Dimming Mirror with Reading Lamp, Remote Keyless Entry, Security Alarm, Power Heated Mirrors,
Ground Clearance - at curb weight - Approach Angle:43.6 vs 40.6
Ground Clearance - at curb weight - Breakover Angle:20.3 vs. 17.8
Ground Clearance - at curb weight - Departure Angle:40.3 vs 37.4
Ground Clearance - at curb weight - Running Ground Clearance:10.0 vs.8.7

How is this? There is not a suspension difference listed.

This was discussed in the other Willys thread. Everyone seemed to agree that the specs on Jeep.com aren't accurate - they probably copy & pasted from the Sport specs. With the same suspensions & wheels these specs should be the same. I'm guessing you're looking at an Unlimited if you see the Power Convenience Group included in the W package - that's not the case in the 2-dr.

Had to laugh about my previous post - DrinkHoppy and I must have been typing at the same time. Great minds think alike.

I am thinking that Jeep got it all goofed up because when I ordered my willys unlimited I was getting half doors so I went with the cheaper k package because the W package has the power convenience group alarm power windows locks and that stuff which won't work with half doors. Really you shouldn't be allowed to get half doors with the W package.

Well they will let you get whatever you want and pocket the difference for the people who walk in with their pants down. This is why I am asking these questions here. Like learning about heated mirrors is a plus. No need for those in Florida.

All of the above. (Especially the great minds thing).

I have no need for the power since I ordered half doors. So I too ordered the cheaper package and added AC. I also agree they shouldn't even have the half doors available on the W.

Chargermop,

Looks like you and I are getting the same Jeep. I'm gonna be ordering the Willys Unlimited soon - also with half doors. Quick question for you, does the Unlimited come with AC and did you get the 430? If you did order the 430, do you know if we get 2 USB ports seeing as the Willys comes with the connectivity group?
What color you going with?
Thanks!!!

I have a Willys W JKU on order. I am in AZ, so, yeah, I too have no need for the heated mirrors. However, the other convenience/comfort items I want as this will be a DD.

Thank you for the comparative list. It certainly simplifies things.

Nice man! Congrats! That seems like you'll get the Jeep pretty quick from date of order!

I never thought about adding the smokers group for the extra outlet. Where does that one go? I was in a Sport the other day and there was one in the console and on the dash.

For those of us with half doors, is there a way to get power mirrors? I know it's kinda silly, but adjusting mirrors on Wranglers can be a bit of a PITA.

Thanks, you might be able to do something yourself but from the factory you won't be able to get power mirrors on Half doors I will be adding power locks.

Do you think it's worth the power locks? Half door Wrangler has a lot of options for cutting it open...I wasn't even planning on locking my Jeep ever. Was just thinking of locking my sun glasses and iPod in the center console...

Damn you, now you got me thinking of adding power locks!

I'm not looking at it from a security standpoint purely for convenience I know its just sticking a key in the door but I gotta have power locks. this is how I'm going to do it probably just on the front doors there are aftermarket kits but I prefer OEM. In conjunction with Viper alarm with remote start I already have the system on my srt8 charger they're going to remove it and install it on my Jeep so this will control the power door locks.

I dont want the power windows but I do want power locks for the simplicity of when the doors are on to be able to unlock them all at the same time and have everyone jump in at nearly the same time. I already spend too much of my life waiting on a woman. Plus the jeep is not reach around friendly like other vehicles.... I will have them added. No power windows because that is just extra weight when removing doors.

Charger, once you pick up your Willys, would you mind posting some pics? I'd love to see it. I'll be ordering exactly the same package as you (except color) and I'd love to see how everything looks! Thanks!

I'm in south florida and I must say I like the heated mirrors for the early morning when they're wet and fogged. Five minutes up the road and I can see out of them!
