Help me find and pick new black wheels.
They are going on a white JK sport - soft top
Removing base 16" wheels

My goal is:
17" with offset to fit larger tires later when $ is available.
CHEAP...CHEAP !!
Going to use a set of standard Goodyear Wrangler 255/75-17 I removed from other jeep for now.

I prefer the gloss black vs. flat black
I prefer some silver on the wheel - rim being silver or distinct sections or bolt heads
I prefer a spoke look over the circle hole look

Also, what offset do I want to eventually want to use a 285/70-17?

I like white lettering which the tires have - but will it look better as black wall on black wheels?

Thanks for the advice.

Take-offs will require the addition of wheel spacers when you go to wider tires and the wheels are not wide enough to accommodate 315's (per tire manufacturer specs) should you decide to go even larger.

All black sidewalls vs white letters is a personal choice. Everyone has their own opinions. I prefer a solid black sidewall. If I were going with a raised white letter, I prefer an outlined white letter as opposed to a solid white letter ... but that is only MY opinion.

I also like some silver contrast on black wheels, just to break it up a little. I initially went with Dick Cepek DC-1's (which they no longer make) that are a machined wheel with black accents and raised bolt heads around the outer perimeter. When the clear coat got damaged and I began to get oxidation of the aluminum, I painted them black, leaving the natural metal bolt heads and maintained the silver lug nuts. I like the look better than the original look of the wheels, and I have yet to see another set on the road. There are several Jeeps around running the DC-2's (same design as the DC-1's without the raised bolts and different center caps), but I've never seen black DC-1's.

Wheel and tire combos can significantly change the look of your Jeep. It is a personal choice and should reflect your own taste. Buy what YOU like and run it with pride. You're the one that has to climb in it every day.

I will post some pics when I get to my computer

I think this is your wheel! It checks all your boxes and it's pretty sharp looking. $129/ea at Tirerack.com.. can't get much cheaper than that without entering a dark alley. 17x8 so they won't look silly with stock 255 SR-As. And plenty of backspace for a 285 in the future.

OP, check out the Pro Comp 7069. 17x9.

I run ATX wheels too, nice choice. Only my Ledges are teflon so they look gunmetal gray. You can get ATX wheels in the $ 150 range a piece and these have chrome accents.

Here is a pic of mine.

Stock Rubi or Sport S wheel width for 17's is 7.5 I think. So if upgrading, a 8" or 8.5" wheel will fit the 255/75/17 stock tires no problem, but anything wider than that might be pushing it to keep the bead on. I chose 8" wheels because I wanted some protection of them by having the tire stick out a bit more, plus if you ever offroad and air down, the thinner wheel will hold the bead better.

I'd look at either 8" or 8.5" wheels. They will fit the 255's and will easily handle the 285's when you get them.

Looks great! I have the 2015 Sahara wheels..........I'm thinking about purchasing a set like yours and getting them powder coated gloss black.

I went with black steel pro comps that way I didn't mind as much when I scrape them on rocks. Which I did the first time at Rausch. I traded my stock sahara wheels for a new complete factory Soft top since mine was a factory HT. I was happy with the outcome on both sides. I had the dealer do my wheels and offsets and TPMS so it was all done right before I took delivery of the Jeep.

I like them, but then again I think I am the one that recommended them. Does that invalidate my vote?

I like the satin look, but that's me. My Patriot had gloss black wheels and it was difficult to keep them looking shiny. I also think there would be less contrast between the wheel and tire with the satin.

But it's your ride and I wouldn't recommend doing anything you won't be satisfied with.

Have you considered Plasti-Dipping your stock wheels until you can do the whole wheel swap at once?
